    Hi Hunter,

I’ve spent some time review your site. While on first inspection the site looks clean and well presented, there are some major issues which are going to affect your rankings right now. Hence I’ve added a detailed report below.

Ran you site through WebPageTest (which I used a server in London, figured this was a 1/2 way point between your site audience). 1’st load time of 30.03sec, 2’nd load time 10.34sec. That’s way too slow. Sites really need to load (in full) within 9.00sec tops. The faster the better.

    Test Results
    WebPagetest Test Result – London : http://www.depositbonus.com – 10/04/12 04:49:12

You need to be mindful that not all people have a fast internet connection. In addition, the Google alog tests for page speed and as it stand having a 1’st (complete) load time of 30 sec, your site is too slow.

Your site is bogged down with way too many images. Here’s your logo and casino screen caps home page Kb sizes. I’ve included total Meg size:

    • Header – 102Kb
    • BetSafe – 97Kb
    • Platinum Play – 97.1Kb
    • CasinoTitan – 91.9Kb
    • Vera and John – 107Kb
    • Lucky Club – 97.3Kb
    • Winner Casino – 110Kb
    • Virgin Games – 110Kb
    • 21 Dukes – 126Kb
    • Celtic Casino – 92.6Kb
    • Liberty Slots – 88Kb

Just these are close enough to a total 1Meg of images. I haven’t bother calculating the rest.

You could try combating this using a CDN to deliver your images and scripts. As your using WordPress I’d also try these two plugin:

However I’d be inclined to reduce the number of images and optimize all page images as much as possible. That is, reduce their size as much as possible. Do away with the mini banners under your header logo for starters.

NB – Optimized images can still look good without being pristine quality.

    Header Coding

    • Your title is too short
    • No Description used

Use either Yoast SEO plugin or All in One SEO Pack.

    Body Coding

    • Can’t find any H tags (important for SEO use them but use them properly).
    • title tags belong in the URL link – alt tags are for images. Don’t combine the two.
    • Outgoing links add rel=nofollow to them.

    Full Review Pages
Again over kill in image weights. Also, your footer is missing. Which also means your closing body and html tags are not being included. These pages end in .

I think the lay-out has a lot of potential however your shooting yourself in foot with all these images. Instead of adding the casino name to images, use a H3 tag above each mini review block. Spend as much time as you can optimizing you load times and crunching these numbers. It will pay dividends.

    Cheers

thanks for the thorough review Dave, gonna tweak stuff some.

according to https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights#url=http_3A_2F_2Fwww.depositbonus.com_2F&mobile=false , score 67 out of 100, so room for improvement there yes. just checked my other sites too and its the same on them, score 78 thou, but still room for improvements. so thanks for the heads up. do you know if page loading counts much when it comes to ranking?

Whether google uses site/page load times as part of its alog matrix, I can’t say for sure. However Matt Cutts mentioned it some time ago and the fact Google offers a tool to pin point lag areas of a site, tells me it’s likely. From memory any time after 7sec is when punters start hitting the browser back button.

Google analytics messure bounce rates, so I’m sure the google alog does to.

Hence getting your page(s) loading fast, while it wont stop a bounce rates per say, it will improve your success in not forcing punters to hit the back button.

    Cheers

Official Google Webmaster Central Blog: Using site speed in web search ranking

    from 2010

You may have heard that here at Google we’re obsessed with speed, in our products and on the web. As part of that effort, today we’re including a new signal in our search ranking algorithms: site speed. Site speed reflects how quickly a website responds to web requests.

While site speed is a new signal, it doesn’t carry as much weight as the relevance of a page. Currently, fewer than 1% of search queries are affected by the site speed signal in our implementation and the signal for site speed only applies for visitors searching in English on Google.com at this point.

Anything is up for speculation. However given that’s dated 2010, and there’s been huge shake ups in how the Google alog values sites etc…etc since then, not to mention Panda too, I’m personally making sure my sites load quickly. If it doesn’t affect SERPS then least I’m eliminating anyone hitting the back button cause my site doesn’t load quick enough ;)

i would assume its still a ranking factor. it makes all kinds of sense that its a factor, probably not so important, but still. slow site vs fast site, fast is best, removing it as a ranking factor wouldnt make much sense, so i put my 2 cents on its still ranking factor, wish i had matt cutts cell number so i could find out
