Includes bonus comedy – Fans w/ Obama signs in the standsOctober 12, 2008 at 1:16 pm #782196AnonymousInactiveWell that’s great, that should be a very Republican crowd.
1. NHL Hockey fans tend to skew to a very white crowd.
2. The people with the season tickets up close tend to be rich republicans
3. Other fans tend to be typical “Reagan Democrats”
4. Philly has a lot of racial tension, you don’t expect white hockey fans to support Obama.I’ve always hated the flyers and the crappy town they come from (I’m from Detroit, so we get to shit on a team/city that hasn’t won a cup in 35 years :roflmao:), but i’m with em on this one!

Detroit here also (well, Canton) so I’ve been waiting for the season to finally get rolling. They won last night 3-2. Should be an excellent year for the Wings! We certainly need something positive to help forget about the Tigers awful season & from the Lions sucking even more than they normally do :flush:
btw, this video reminds me of when Kwame went to the Red Wings rally after winning the cup & got booed off the stage :roflmao:
October 12, 2008 at 1:41 pm #782198AnonymousInactiveI was just about to post this after seeing it on MSNBC. hehe
Despite pleas from the scoreboard at the Wachovia Center, which read “Flyers fans, show Philadelphia’s class and welcome America’s No. 1 hockey mom, Sarah Palin,” ABC News’ Jake Tapper reports that the booing was so prevalent that the music had to be cranked up to “deafening” levels in order to compete with the fans from the city of Brotherly Love.
I’ve never been to a hockey game and was upset that our city (Denver) was invaded by a ton of tourist/visitor the year the Avalanche won that cup. hehe I worked downtown and I still remember the parade that caused a major traffic jam and delayed me getting home that day. LMAOOO

“A carpet was laid down and Palin, dressed in a beige trench, walked on to the ice joined by her daughters Willow and Piper. The GOP Vice-Presidential nominee said at an earlier fundraiser that she would stop some of the booing from the rowdy Philadelphia fans by putting her seven year old daughter, Piper in a Flyers jersey. She said, “How dare they boo Piper!” :1Dopey:

So much for the loving ‘hockey mom’ NOT using her kids to advance her political career. :wink-wink

Exactly! That’s the norm for the McCain/Palin campaign. The more ridiculous the stunt, the better, even if they have to put Palin’s kids in awkward situations. While I don’t think it’s alright (at all) to boo the kids, she & the advisors knew what they were getting themselves into. I kind of think this was maybe meant to show that Obama supporters are somehow as batshit crazy as the ones that have been going to McCain/Palin events & saying insane things. They have received a lot of heat lately for the rhetoric on the campaign trail. Problem is that by her acknowledging that she anticipated boos, and would use her child to diffuse that, they will have a hard time making that case. Plus it was a freakin hockey game, not an Obama event. Besides, didn’t Philly fans many years ago boo Santa Claus at an Eagles game? :santa2:

You have a good point Erik.
I feel that this particular stunt was ONLY done so they can take advantage of the ‘hockey mom’ image to be USED for future commericals, etc. Watch and see.
Her pitbull act was when she was attacking Obama last week. Next she will be playing a drinking game or something to cater to Joe Six Pack.
