When you read all these threads and add it up, something sure doesn’t sound kosher down at Brightshare. Maybe it’s me? I don’t understand why I’m not making any money with BS, with all my new real players and no deposits? Like I said, maybe it’s all in my head.
Real Players, read the thread started by Goldfinger, the response by Marcia is what caught my attention, now I mean no disrespect towards Marcia but JPF/BS may be doing their own player retention without Marcia’s knowledge?
Quote: “you may have players who register as “real” in order to play the slot tournaments, but stick to the FREE slot tournaments, thus not depositing.Of course, that’s where our retention team comes into play – targeting those players and turning them into depositing and wagering players.” End Quote.
That’s where their retention team comes into play? I’m sure you’ve all seen that spammy drop down box to win free gas whenever anyone clicks most of the JPF casinos. Basically it’s a way of harvesting player’s names and email addresses from the affiliates websites.
I’ve signed up two times using some yahoo email addresses with false names, and now receive spam around once a week from the two casinos, and there is nothing on there that even comes close to my affiliate code. Whose code is it? I wish I knew.
I suspect when this free gas spam is over JPF/BS will find another drop down box to fill its void and continue harvesting players email addresses from the affiliates who originally brought them there, leaving us out of the loop! A cookie can last a day, week, month if were lucky, but JPF/BS will always have our players email addresses.
I don’t like to say this but “our retention team” really means THEIRS.October 17, 2008 at 10:19 am #782838AnonymousInactive3nuts, you have valid criticism.
I’ll look into this right away and get back to you.

October 17, 2008 at 5:03 pm #782887AnonymousInactiveHi Freecc,
The pop up has been removed. Please check.
I emailed the JF GM the following:
Basically, we need to make sure that if we are asking affiliates to send players to our sites that we are setting up all our promotions in a manner that will ensure that they will earn their agreed upon commission, always.
JF GM explained that the harvesting was supposed to done together with the banner tags but clearly wasn’t, so he gave immediate instructions to remove the promotion.
Thanks for posting about this. Now, in the future there is less chance that this will happen again.
Cheers, Lloyd
October 17, 2008 at 5:07 pm #782890AnonymousInactiveThanks for sorting this out. I wonder for how long this has been going on though. On a theoretical level it would proabably still track if the players receive the emails and download or deposit while the cookies have not expired but that’s only the 2nd best solution really. Good job that you’ve removed it.
Rewards had many annoying promotions like that in the past and never did anything to remove them.
October 18, 2008 at 2:00 am #782935AnonymousInactiveGreat that it got pulled down : ) : )
Brightshare is great and always listning to affiliate concerns.
October 20, 2008 at 12:04 am #783056AnonymousInactivei visited allslots via a link on my site today and had the popup load.
Question 1 Why was it added again?
I filled out the form and received an email. The email has no tag in the link but once on the site again the tag is in the browser cookie that was originally set.
So, here is the dilema…..
Question 2 Based on the above findings, it is my understanding that once the visitor clears the cache and they receive a “new update” to the email they registered. They will be no longer tracked to the affiliate. Am i missing something?
Therefore, if i will not be getting credit. I would like to know if i can add a code to aff link to disable the popup from loading.
Thank you

Thank you for registering for the Jackpot Factory’s Free Gas for a Month.
We will draw the five lucky winners on November 5th,
so please be sure to mark this email as “safe” and stay tuned.Best regards,

a. is questionable why the email address can be filled in BEFORE the registration to the casino.
b. leads to more “type in” traffic to allslots.A popup with good actions is nice but do not use this to harvest emailaddresses from players sent by affiliate sites.
Just remove the email subscription and let players know they can get the free gas tickets AFTER they registered.

Must be some technical excuse for this.
I’ll tell them to remove it now.
Sorry about this.

Hi Lloyd,
I’m wondering about the tracking of the All Slots landing page as used in your sig below. All Jackpots shows the btag in the status bar no matter which link is hovered over, whereas the All Slots page doesn’t. Do we know if it is tracking correctly as this the same behaivor I see when clicking an All Slots banner/link on my site?
Thanks
slotplayerOctober 20, 2008 at 2:39 pm #783140AnonymousInactivePop-up is down again – thanks for the police work guys.
Slotplayer All Slots tracks – you can check this by placing the script below in the address bar after All Slots is open in your bowser.
Save the following under the name bTag to your IE links:
javascript:alert(readCookie(‘bTag’));exit()Then after clicking on a link to one of our casinos and after the casino home page has opened click on the bTag link and you will see the banner tag in a pop-up window.
If it’s unclear please let me know.
Thanks, Lloyd
October 22, 2008 at 11:37 am #783502AnonymousInactiveHi Lloyd,
I have repeatedly tried to resolve the returned check issue! I am getting the feeling my issue is being ignored.
What is Brightshare going to do to handle this? I am still owed money. In my part of the world, this is a very serious issue, but nothing is being done on this.
