Affiliate players are currently locked in with the original referring affiliate, but we intend to provide more flexibility on this soon to benefit affiliates who can assist players who have difficulties with their first deposit.
If that happens, very unhappily we will be parting ways, Satya.
June 3, 2005 at 9:06 pm #666582AnonymousInactiveI have to agree with Dominique…..
It sounds like I have to make contingency plays to implement link swapping on over 60 domains now…… thats sad…………
June 3, 2005 at 11:33 pm #666598AnonymousInactiveI am truly SHOCKED by Satya’s post! A few questions/comments…
PartyPoker.com’s position is that if a player has not made a deposit for 60 days, another affiliate who convinces the player to make a deposit should receive credit for the player.
HOW exactly does one affiliate convince another affiliate’s play money player to make a deposit? First of all, it is against the agreement to recruit existing players. Second, once a player registers, they no longer have the option to put a sign up bonus code in, so how would they ever get tracked to a new affiliate? Seems to me, it’s Party Poker who is looking to convince the players to make deposits, and not have to pay affiliate fees – since it seems unlikely that any affiliate could take another affiliate’s play money players.
Affiliate players are currently locked in with the original referring affiliate, but we intend to provide more flexibility on this soon to benefit affiliates who can assist players who have difficulties with their first deposit.
What the #$%^! I don’t even know what to say. This makes no sense whatsoever.
I can tell you this, if Party makes it so a player is not “locked in” – I’m done. Party will have seen my last player. Period.
June 4, 2005 at 1:12 am #666603AnonymousInactiveUnfortunately it seems quite clear now that PP wants affliates to send players but it doesn’t want to pay them.
So it takes them away from the affiliate who put all the work into locating the players and gives them to “an affiliate who will help them if they have troubles with their first deposit”. I would offer to do that myself – but – that would be an equivalent to rake back!!!!! PP wants in-house rakeback? Only your chosen ones and under your control?
And if you do have a depositing player and for some reason he doesn’t play for 2 months, this same affiliate will help him deposit too? How did he find him?
What is this? Who is this affiliate? How does he get his hands on my players?
Shame, shame, shame.
I am sorry Satya, I know you try, but this time your company is really stepping wayyyy outside the bounds of good business.
June 4, 2005 at 1:24 am #666604AnonymousInactiveThis is quite shocking, to say the least.
Why should I be sending ANY traffic to Party Poker, except if it’s on a per CLICK basis, instead of rev-share?
June 4, 2005 at 1:31 am #666605AnonymousInactiveWe recognize and understand the fact that there are concerns related to some of the other clauses.
We are looking into the same and should get back with an amendment / clarification soon.
Thanks,
SatyaI bet someone here can give us a list of other poker programs without this problem.
And we don’t need to waste time waiting for any answersBrad
June 4, 2005 at 1:43 am #666607AnonymousInactiveIt seems to me that Party has decided that they are big enough that they have no need for affiliates any more. They have forgotten why they are the biggest room.
I wish PokerStars would come out with a decent revshare plan. They would pass Party within six months as most affiliate traffic would start going there in light of these changes at Party.
Of course I am lucky in the fact that I have no players at Party, but this just concretes the fact that I never will as I’m not going to send them any more of my miniscule traffic. I’m sure Paradise, Pokerroom and Absolute will appreciate it more.
Makes me want to open my own poker room. With the recent crap, treat your affiliates like gold and I think you could be very successful, even with the current competition.
June 4, 2005 at 8:09 am #666616AnonymousInactiveThis is going to change my strategy as a poker affiliate. I was leaning heavily towards Party Poker with all my campaigns but little things like this, in the end I am going to get scrwed.
June 4, 2005 at 8:08 pm #666634AnonymousInactiveClub Wager has been a loyal and productive affiliate of Party Poker since 2002. We undertook promotion based on the understanding that any players referred by us were our players for life (not just for their “active” life, whatever that means). We have spent many thousands of dollars maintaining our web site and thousands of hours of time on it and on promoting Party. We were willing to do all of this because we felt we had a good and honest deal with Party and were being treated right and it was worth the effort and financial risk to get players, since once they signed up we would have residual income from them for life.
Under your new rule 4.7 if our sign up either fails to fund his or her account within 60 days or takes off 60 days, we lose them. Why? What possible legitimate justification does Party have for this change? This makes no sense to me at all. It appears to be a pretext for Party to attempt to legitimize taking players away from affiliates to deprive them of their commissions and increase Party’s bottom line. One can not help but wonder if this is being done as part of a pre-public offering strategy?
You say Party is committed to its affiliate program, but Party’s actions belie that. Actions are what counts – not lip service. If Party is truly interested in its affiliate program it must show it by providing adequate compensation and incentives. If Party is to maintain credibility with its affiliates then it must keep its word and abide by its promise that referred player are tracked to the affiliate for life.
What possible difference does it make if the player deposits in 60 days or much later? Party’s affiliate ad says “When a poker player opens an Account using a sign up bonus code or a tracking URL assigned to you, we know the player was referred by you and we permanently mark his/her Account in our database.” So, I don’t care if a player takes off years or waits years before they actually make a deposit – if they signed up through my efforts they are marked as my player and whenever they play at Party I should get my commission – period. That is the deal Party made.
Perhaps Party has forgotten how valuable and important their affiliate program is. It is a very significant way to advertise, especially with the current advertising prohibitions for online gaming. Does Party realize that if it loses the trust of its affiliates the entire system could crumble – like a house of cards. Affiliates would not only stop promoting Party, they will start aggressively pushing other sites. Eventually one of those other sites will become the place to go for the most games, variety, fish, etc. Don’t forget Paradise was #1 for a while and now it is only 6th in terms of real money ring players per pokerpulse.com. It would be incredibly short sighted for Party to destroy its affiliates. Please stop chipping away at affiliate benefits.
I hope this dunderheaded rule change was a mistake that Party quickly changes.
June 5, 2005 at 8:59 pm #666680AnonymousGuestwell said club wager.
Affiliates would not only stop promoting Party, they will start aggressively pushing other sites.
thats a guarantee if they insist on pushing this thru.
I would think that IGlobal of all places, would realize both how important affiliates are; and how much things drop-off when they get pushed to the back of the shelf on affiliate websites.
This is a most common event on the net in this niche. someplace will climb to the top, or near it, and all of a sudden they start throwing in unacceptable practices and the affiliates go away. Then that program claws its way back into the good graces and apparently,… the cycle begins again.
Sigh.
June 6, 2005 at 5:25 pm #666716AnonymousInactiveFrom my mailbox:

ALSO! If you get the minimum 3 real money players required, I’ll also give you a freeroll entry into a $2000 tournament!!
And remember, on top of this, you’ll receive 25% EXTRA COMMISSION!!!!
How is the Extra % calculated?
It’s very simple, what ever commission’s you earn in June we will add the additional 25% over and above it!! For example if you earn $400 in May we will pay you $100 extra over and above your regular commission! It’s as easy as that!!
TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

3. PartyPoker.com reserves the right to inspect the players acquired during this period for reasonable quality and to hold payment until the authenticity of these players is verified.

If you need any help, whether it be online or offline, just drop me an email and I’ll be glad to do what I can to make sure you qualify for this months bonus’!!
Just by talking to friends and family and getting them to sign up and play at Party Poker, you could get the cap, jacket and entrance to the Party Poker Million V tournament!! It can be that easy!
Best of luck to all of you, I’ll keep you updated through out June on your progress!!!
All the best,
Shaun Measday
[email protected]Ok, so I will get $500 or so, a hat, a jacket and an entry to play two poker tournies at Party Poker if I send 6 players.
Now according to the new rules I better make sure the 6 players have money for their first deposits, so I need to deposit it in their accounts for them or some other magical person will sign them and I get nothing.
Now once I have done that – lets say I gave them $50 each out of my own pocket and still have $200 left, I sit and pray they will redeposit every month and not take a 60 day break because if they do I lose them alltogether to this other person who will magically show up and help them redeposit.
Thank god I will have a hat and jacket to keep me warm and a couple of tournies to distract myself from my woes, because my $200 will sure have run out by now if I signed up any players the next month and needed to fund their account so the magical person who helps all players fund accounts will not take them from me – yet.
oh, I forgot – there is Nr. 5. PartyPoker.com reserves the right to modify the terms and conditions of this promotion.
So maybe I won’t have the $200, or the jacket or hat or tournies, no way of telling. Modifying terms and conditions is, afterall, something PP enjoys doing.
June 6, 2005 at 5:35 pm #666717AnonymousInactiveDon’t mince words, Dominique. How do you really feel?
