Actually, the Ohio voting thing suprised me a little. They thought that they might get 25,000 registered and able to vote the same day, but instead they only got 4,000.

Sorry to derail the thread, but it’s voting related. I’ve always wondered why election day isn’t held on the weekend when most of the working class would have a chance to vote. Or, why don’t we have a National day off so that everyone can vote?

Being that there are more democrats in the USA than there are republicans THAT idea will never be allowed to be explored. LOL They are already mad at the efforts put forward by the well run campaign that Obama is running as it relates to getting new voters registered to where they are going to court over stupid stuff.

Obama is out spending McPalin on adversting so that is getting their panties in a wad as well. :D

voting is kept on tuesdays to make it harder for people, especially those low in rank/status/income to get to vote. Some states have early voting or allow all people to vote absentee, to eliminate this issue, making it very easy for their citizens to vote.

The democrats want people to come up register and vote the same day, willing to accept the possible fraud, to allow more to vote.

Republicans, in ohio in 2004, removed voting machines from democratic precincts (mainly inner city black precincts) and put them into republican precincts. Then when hundreds of people sit in line for hours on end, they run to a judge and try to prevent people who were in line when the polls were open, to vote, once the polls are scheduled to close. They argue that people aren’t guarantee the right to actually vote, only to try to manage to get in and vote during the scheduled hour. if for any reason the voters can’t be accomodated during this time, they don’t get to vote.

These are the people who tried to storm the the ballot counting room in dade county florida in 2000, with a crowd of screaming facists surrounding the building demand the counting stop. I’m trying to guess what sorts of dirty tricks they have planned for this election.

Which side is evil here? the one willing to let people vote and risk the fraud or the people who are claiming to want a fair election trying to prevent people who are at the polling to place ready to vote, from voting?

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (CNN) — Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin abused her power as Alaska’s governor in the firing of her former public safety commissioner, but violated no laws, a report for the state Legislature concluded Friday.

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is under investigation for the firing of her public safety commissioner.

Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan’s refusal to fire Palin’s ex-brother-in-law from the state police force was “likely a contributing factor” to Monegan’s July dismissal, but Palin had the authority as governor to sack him, the report by former Anchorage prosecutor Stephen Branchflower states.

The bipartisan Legislative Council, which commissioned the investigation after Monegan was fired, unanimously adopted the 263-page public report after a marathon executive session Friday. About 1,000 more pages of documents compiled during the inquiry will remain confidential, the council’s chairman, state Sen. Kim Elton, said.

Rep. John Coghill, a Republican who criticized the handling of the investigation, said it was “well-done professionally.”

But he said some of the conclusions were judgment calls by Branchflower, and recommended readers should view them with a “jaundiced eye.”
