Hi Guys
Any help or a nudge in the right direction will be greatly appreciated. I recently sent out an email to sort of gauge the amount of interest that there is for South African gambling domain names considering that the gambling bill will be passed here very soon. We did receive offers of 10k and 15k sterling for casinos.co.za and blackjack.co.za respectively. Please check out the mail and give me your thoughts.
Background
The South African Parliament has recently approved the National Amendment Gambling Bill – a new internet gambling law for online players and licensed interactive gaming providers. In granting operators licenses to operate online casinos, the new bill aims to address the negative socio-economic effects associated with gambling and deals specifically with issues of problem gambling, player protection, licensing, taxation and advertising, as well as create additional revenue streams of significance to the national fiscus.
With the increasing penetration of broadband (ADSL) in South Africa, faster Internet speeds and the rise in the number of Internet subscribers, consumers will be seeking alternative forms of entertainment. Future growth will be driven by more leisure oriented consumers as demonstrated by the emergence and growth of simpler gambling formats targeting the mass market, in particular gaming. Gambling products will be competing with other forms of mass entertainment for consumer attention and spending.
Opportunity
Generic domain names are only generic in the sense of the word. In reality they offer a true marketing advantage. This translates into more potential visitors finding your web site, which results in increased traffic to your site.
A Generic domain name features a word or words that cannot usually be trademarked on their own. These names are typically products or services but can also be categories, processes, phrases, job titles, places and dictionary words. They can have any extension. Examples include: Music.co.za, Southafrica.com, Poker.com, etc.
These names have not had a common label until recently, being variously and inconsistently referred to as ‘Premium Domain Names’ and ‘Direct Navigation Domain Names’. The period of the .com boom and bust and the label of ‘cyber squatting’ have hidden the emerging opportunity that are ‘Generic Domain Names’. These ‘properties’ are often also referred to as ‘Internet Real Estate’
We have in our vast portfolio of domain names, a selection of generic domain names relevant to the casino and gaming industry, including:Casinos.co.za Blackjack.co.za Pachinko.co.za Mahjongg.co.za Mahjong.co.za Paigow.co.za Sicbo.co.za Nolimitpoker.co.za Americanroulette.co.za Europeanroulette.co.za Expressions of interest are hereby invited from individuals/companies for the possible purchase of the above mentioned generic domain names, either individually or collectively as a portfolio.
We hereby invite you/your company to indicate whether you may be interested in acquiring all or part of the domain names as set out here above. Please contact us at ……………August 6, 2008 at 3:22 am #774783AnonymousInactiveIve heard the SA online gaming market is the way to go.
