Far from slowing its growth, a government crackdown on online gambling has sent many sites offshore, and many others underground. But it’s a good bet that Internet poker will remain a booming industry.

March 29, 2007 at 7:22 pm #732461AnonymousGuestI have to attend classes on drugs abuse since I got busted growing.
the teacher asked if it should be legalized. Some said it should be “decriminlized”.
which if thats the best we can do …. I’m all for it.
but that merely makes it possible for the blackmarket to still exist …. while not prosecuting their customers.
now the reason I say this is the same person admitted its going to go on whether or not the govt does anything about persecuting it.
people are going to play. Will the US put millions of its otherwise tax paying and non-criminal population in jail for playing? Unlikely though they’ve proven they’d do it to pot smokers.
poker however has a much more sympathetic attitude amongst the population.
so as they say in this article. It will grow and continue to be more and more popular. Now do we take the decriminalized approach although they’ll never say it ….. that is exactly the approach taken when the players are not persecuted.
Or do we embrace yet another vice that unlike alcohol or tobacco ….. seldom kills those that abuse the vice?
Legalize it, tax it … move on. If somebody wants to go broke playing poker ….. I feel sorry for them. However I feel more sorry for them to NOT have the right to do so.
