And what would we offer the Senators ?
They work for the highest paying bidder.
September 26, 2006 at 1:44 pm #707415AnonymousInactiveHow about offering a percentage of player losses, they might go for that.

September 26, 2006 at 9:04 pm #707464AnonymousInactiveInternet gambling is already illegal in most of the country, with the major exceptions of Nevada, Indian reservations and other smaller locales where residents have voted to change the law.
The fight in Congress to enact further enforcement methods has persisted since former GOP lobbyist Jack Abramoff fought to defeat a bill offered by Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) in the summer of 2000.
Same old bullshit! If its already illegal why the hell do you need to pass another law? Enforce the ones you already have; start arresting people; throw away the key but dont waste time passing another law if you already have one. Ahhhhh wait, there is no law! Damn crooked MF’s trying to piggy back something to a totally unrelated something else. :flamer:
September 26, 2006 at 9:30 pm #707473vladcizsolMemberGuys the SENATE MAJORITY LEADER Bill Frist said this in a speech directed to President Bush on September 5th:
Quote:And it continues with addressing internet gambling. As it is now, this industry threatens to undermine the quality of life of millions of Americans by bringing an addictive behavior right into our living rooms.Mr. President, as you can see, we have a lot on our plate. Bipartisan support on each of these issues is crucial. As we learned last year with hurricanes Katrina and Rita — and on September 11th almost 5 years ago — complacency and passiveness have no place on the Senate floor.
See this crack pots full speech here:

Guys this Lunatic is the SENATE MAJORITY LEADER! We are definately on the radar screen of the Senate and the House of Representatives already passed their version of Internet Gambling Prohibition earlier in the year.
I urge everyone to write or call Mr Frist as often as possible and express their outrage at this attack on our freedoms. He can be reached at:

Don’t these asses realize the money they could use on healthcare, schools, military etc with the tax money generated from OLG? Bunch of freaks!!
September 27, 2006 at 1:59 am #707513AnonymousInactiveThe senate could care less about health care and social programs..

gambling..September 27, 2006 at 5:18 am #707522AnonymousInactiveJust for your own information, there’s only 3 days left and unless it passes exactly like the House, it still must go to conference.:flush:

Frist is trying to pass it by attaching it to other legislation. I’m surprised there isn’t more hubub happening here at CAP. If he succeeds in attaching the language to another bill, it won’t have ANY debate on the Senate floor. It will just sail through. That could happen tomorrow, by the end of the week, or during the lame duck session in November.
This is not a drill, folks. This is potentially happening. Like, NOW.
There’s a lot of good information here:

And it continues with addressing internet gambling. As it is now, this industry threatens to undermine the quality of life of millions of Americans by bringing an addictive behavior right into our living rooms. The incoherence of the above argument (Senate Majority Leader).
I live no more than 5 blocks from a big land casino.
I can’t not remember the last time I was betting there.
I can’t see the difference between my living room and that place.September 27, 2006 at 12:07 pm #707551AnonymousInactiveThis is a last ditch effort to assist the Republican party during the upcoming elections. It’s totally based on the “moral issues”, and is being used by Republicans who are on the fence with voting for this November. The Republicans are teetering on the edge of losing their majority in the House, although unbelievably there has been a recent resurgence in Republican popularity due to, according to the press, the price of oil coming down.
Unbelievable how superficial the voting public can be.This is a great time to hold our breath. This could easily sneak its way through the Senate. I just hope the lobbyists (the main one being the Banking Industry) are barking very loud at this point.
September 27, 2006 at 1:01 pm #707561AnonymousInactiveNow here’s a post from this morning, that says Frist has no chance of getting his Internet Gambling “addendum” through this week:
Still, time to hold one’s breath…..

I can’t see the difference between my living room and that place. Not only that, but if you have horse racing in your state, well that doesn’t threaten our quality of life so internet gambling on horse racing is ok. The hypocrisy is nauseating.
