Knowing that a new state-by-state network of online gambling laws in the U.S. would be bad for their business, a new group of offshore gambling companies aims to help overturn the UIGEA: New Gambling Advocacy Group to Work Toward Changing US Laws

I applaud all their efforts, and they should be commended, but how long did it take UIGEA to actually become reality ? Answer: many, many years. And it will take the same number of years, to undo UIGEA, at the federal level. I think by starting small (state-level), we can create some synergy for the movement, and once we have critical mass (say, 7-8 states or more) at the state level, we can then use this as a catalyst to reverse UIGEA. Baby steps, at this point IMO, are better than trying to go for the entire ball of wax. Granted, UIGEA removal would be the ultimate panacea, but let’s build some state inertia first, to eradicate the big, bad monster.

Good luck to the new group in fighting the UIGEA. They are late though. About five years late…
