Hey all,
I was wondering if anyone holds any stock in the meta tag analyzers. I’ve been trying to optimize my site and have received 100% on most of them, however, I rank terribly for the keywords I am after. I am VERY new but I was just wondering if these free analyzers are accurate. TIA for any help on this.February 21, 2006 at 11:02 pm #684301AnonymousInactiveHi,
Meta Tags are highly irrelevant in most big search engines and just dont effect like they used too. These days the key to getting good rankings is perfecting on / off page linking, quality content and more quality content.
In any case , here is one you can use :

As for achieving rankings, META tags are next to useless. You will only rank for your keywords after months and months, possibly years of gaining links to your site. Definitely start reading up at seochat.com if you are serious about getting somewhere in the SERPs. I spent a couple of months reading before I got it.

February 22, 2006 at 5:06 am #684346AnonymousInactiveEach analyzer gives different results and I don’t believe any of them are completely accurate. Some are not accurate due to the tool being outdated and not kept up with SE’s, but some are meant to be out dated so you hire the company to fix your issue.
The Title is what you want to be concerned with rather than description or keywords tags. Description is good for putting copy that is meant to make a searcher click your link. Meta tags do not hurt your site, so it is not bad to use them for the search engines that still use them or look for them.
Spend a lot of time in forums and on blogs learning about SEO and you will see that it is much more complicated than just meta tags.
Good luck with your site, you should keep us all updated on your progress.
February 22, 2006 at 6:20 am #684353AnonymousInactiveThanks for the clarification seoforumz. I must have been tired when I wrote that. Yes, the Titles is what defines separate pages within the search engines when indexed. The META description is picked up by some SEs as the description that is displayed in the results, so should be looked at as a click conversion tool rather than an SEO tool.

February 22, 2006 at 3:25 pm #684387AnonymousInactiveI am huge believer in page titles. In the source code and viewable on the page. I have great success just by relying on page titles, I do not rely on my domain. greek39
