Company spokesperson discounts rumors of a pullout
From the CAP Newswire:October 13, 2008 (InfoPowa News) — The Gibraltar publication “Panorama” followed up on rumors this week that the online gambling group Mansion was about to pull out of the Mediterranean enclave, which hosts and licences many leading industry companies.
Unsettling rumors had been circulating that Indonesian-owned Mansion, which employs almost 150 people in the British territory, was planning to shut down its Gibraltar operations in favor of a move to Singapore and, of all places, Israel.
Consideration of the former state, which has a personal tax rate of only 8 percent, was perhaps understandable, but Israel has traditionally taken a tough anti-online gambling line when it comes to operators, although it boasts impressive technological capability.
The rumors reignited fears of further Gibraltar job losses following retrenchments at 888.com earlier this year and more recent news that Party Gaming may be making staff cuts. Unidentified sources told Panorama that some staff had already been prepared for a move with a view to relocation over the next few months.
Approached for comment, a Mansion spokesperson assured Panorama reporters that Mansion (Gibraltar) Limited was “proud to be operating in Gibraltar” and was staying put, although the IT team was being reduced. However, the company was recruiting more sales and marketing staff, she revealed.
Panorama reports that Mansion’s Gibraltar personnel roster includes 18 Gibraltarians, 104 British, 4 Spanish, and 23 persons of other nationalities.

However, the company was recruiting more sales and marketing staff, she revealed. If im not wrong, there acquisition team is based outside Gibraltar – and replacing many of the highturn over staff, does not establish nor commit a company to staying (or growing in Mansions case.)
I would ‘feel’ for the staff there… but being they have turned over (re: stiffed) some of the stongest aff managers on the CAP forum..im not going to.

Their marketing department in Gib was virtually all ‘turned over’ and a new office was opened up in Israel, where again those new staff were…err…turned over once again!
It wont be long before they pull out of Gib I think.

At least Mansion gave us £36m to spend on the likes of Darren Bent!:Cry::Cry:

October 20, 2008 at 1:20 pm #783118ZlzmbmaxMemberI wondered also about the number of staff quoted in the press release.
Don’t think they have quite (substitute the word ‘quite’ with ‘anywhere near’ )that number of staff based in Gib anymore.
But, with Mansion, their surprises never surprise me anymore. The recent changes are just as likely to be another re-structuring as it is a total withdrawal from Gib.
