:tongue:That’s pretty much what I was thinking.
August 25, 2006 at 4:19 pm #703498AnonymousInactivewell, the gooner brings up a good point. Any comment?
I belive mahjong might be too difficult a game for westerners? The key to pokers success is it apears on the outside to be a very easy game, the rules are rather simple and can be learned in a short time. anyone have opinions on this?
I would be interested to promote mahjong, but I wonder if there is actually any money in it. How is money made? is it like poker tournaments, where a small fee is paid over the entry fee and the winner takes his/her share of the prize pool? I would love to know what the best ‘mahjong’ affiliate makes? I would guess it is a rather small amount.
From wikipedia:
In 1998 the China State Sports Commission, in the interest of changing mahjong from an illegal gambling game to an approved ‘healthy sport’, published a new set of rules, now generally referred to as Chinese Official rules or International Tournament rules. The principles of the new, ‘healthy’ mahjong are: no gambling – no drinking – no smoking. On international tournaments, players are often grouped in teams to emphasize that mahjong from now on is considered a sport.
So china is out?
In Japan, there is a traditional emphasis on gambling and the typical player is male.
Oh good, japan is in.
Many devotees there believe the game is losing popularity and have taken efforts to revive it.
Oh, maybe they are in…

Some people are rubbing a lot of coins together there.
Not sure who they are, but lots of rubbing occurs!

I’m glad to see the responses, as Mahjong is fairly new to affiliates it is nice to know what people are thinking.

Mahjong Time offers tournaments in which profit is earned from the prize pool, they also have monthly and yearly membership fees in which players accumulate game credits, or you can by them on an individual basis. The amounts are lower than poker however there is something to be made.
Once you get the hang of Mahjong it is not that difficult, plus there are help pages and strategies all over the place, just like there is for new poker players.
If players play for fun or for real money, I can tell you that it is quite addictive and they’ll want to come back for more!
Thanks again for your comments. If you have any questions be sure to let me know.
