I am shocked and amazed by the number of link cheaters I have discovered – some of them very prominent members of the online gambling community (and hopefully, none of them members here).
I am extremely tempted to name and shame their sites so that you guys don’t find yourselves burnt by these con artists who don’t even have the courtesy to let me know that they are removing my links – and have continued to enjoy the benefits of a link from Got2Bet.
So when they take a dive over the coming weeks… watch the mad scramble.
Those partners who have been honest with us hopefully will gain even more benefit from the links we have exchanged. We are not taking on new links except by special arrangement at this stage. Too much hassle to manage the link exchange, and especially with the high number of cheaters I have just discovered (and I’m not done yet either).
July 23, 2004 at 12:19 pm #652620AnonymousInactiveActually, I’m shocked that your shocked! How long have you been in this business?
I have been using “link by special request” for sometime now just to avoid that very problem and I am sure it has saved my rankings on more than one occasion. Doesn’t matter how “BIG” they are, trust no one. Always, always check them out in advance and keep checking them on a regular basis.
July 23, 2004 at 12:23 pm #652621vladcizsolMemberI discovered Link Cheating or link problems with nearly 60% of the links I tested recently at one of my portals. I have placed all new linking on hold until I figure out a better method of managing link ‘partners”.
July 23, 2004 at 1:13 pm #652622AnonymousInactiveIt’s a bit shocking when former and current association managers are amongst those with no courtesy.
I knew there would be some cheaters. I did not expect it to be that high a percentage – even more shocking, they were all given premium positioning on the page.
It hasn’t hurt my ranking or PR at all though… LOL… but there is no reason for crooks to benefit at the expense of those who have faithfully kept their agreements.
Let me just say this once and for all – burn that bridge once and don’t even think about trying to build a new one. I don’t have enough time as it is to build bridges with deserving people.
July 23, 2004 at 3:10 pm #652625AnonymousInactiveI recently tossed almost all my links because of this. I am going to start from scratch and stick with people I know and trust.
Guess Spear is here to tell me that doesn’t work either.
July 23, 2004 at 3:54 pm #652632AnonymousInactiveThe number of link cheaters have been on the rise for the past year. They rob us of our time and its creating a bad situation for link exchanging.
July 27, 2004 at 4:40 pm #652736AnonymousInactiveYah – Ive been too nice of late myself. I have initiated the exchange after receiving a link inquiry. EG – They sent an email asking if I was interested in exchanging – I slap up their links and reply yes – your links are located here – blah blah ..
Then they never put my links up!
Really irritating – I guess I will go back to requiring a recrip prior to putting theirs up.
August 17, 2004 at 7:50 am #653511AnonymousInactiveFinally finished weeding. I’d guess nearly half of the links were invalid, moved, or the sites no longer exist.
Some of the sites have 10, 20, even 30 link pages – and I am certainly not going to look through that many pages to find my link, besides which I really don’t want to participate in link farms.
Thanks to those of you who have kept your end of the bargain. Hopefully you will get even more value now that a significant number of links have been removed.
Those of you who find you have had your link removed – contact me if you like, but unless I hear a very good reason for the problem I do not intend to re-establish the link.
I may, however, remove even more links in the future – in particular, Links Manager links – those of you on LM now who would like to keep your links may want to consider making a change now.
August 17, 2004 at 5:43 pm #653524AnonymousInactiveSpear if you want a legitimate link exchange let me know … I had contacted you about 6 months ago and you had stated you were not accepting exchanges at that time.
Ive got plenty of high PR sites with hard-coded link exchange options.
This offer goes for everyone in fact!
August 17, 2004 at 6:03 pm #653529AnonymousInactiveI’m in – I understand though that links are supposed to be few, done by hand and not reciprocal now.
August 17, 2004 at 6:53 pm #653532AnonymousInactiveTrue, you and quite a few others did request. However, I think it would be a bad move right now for me to start adding more links again – even though I trust you guys – it’s a time consuming process (as you all have discovered on your own) and so it might be better that I just say thanks but I’m not quite ready yet.
I do listen to offers though… but for the most part not accepting any of them unless I’m returning an old favor or something…
