I have been trying to get on the search engine (Ask jeeves) without any luck. So if i get someone to put a link on there site, that is already in that engine, Am i right in thinking, That when their site is next crawled, i will be indexed too, and can then have them pull the link down?.

To get indexed by Ask Jeeves, you should get multiple links and have multiple links going out too. Having someone put up a link and then take it down isn’t going to accomplish very much.
August 5, 2005 at 7:28 pm #670290AnonymousInactiveIm not looking to get PR, Just put in their index, I dont have anywhere on my site for link exchange, I was just wondering if this would be a way to be indexed. I dont care about links in and links out, im just trying to get on ask jeeves…

August 5, 2005 at 7:41 pm #670294AnonymousInactiveAlexa is powered by Teoma’s search engine. The algorithm is based on separating the web into a community. Communities on the web are determined by who links to who. I don’t think you can get indexed in Teoma without inbound and outbound links. Even if you do get indexed, you won’t rank well, because without a place in the web community, they won’t know where to put you.
August 5, 2005 at 7:42 pm #670295AnonymousInactiveDon’t make the mistake of thinking that you have to have a links or partners page to exchange links. You can trade links at the bottom of your regular pages. When it comes to SEO I tend to listen to what Randy says as he hasn’t steered me wrong yet so if he says links in and out then you should at least consider it.
August 5, 2005 at 7:43 pm #670296AnonymousInactiveYou don’t have to trade links at all. But you do need multiple links TO your site, and you need to have links out from your site. None of them have to be reciprocal links.
August 5, 2005 at 7:44 pm #670297AnonymousInactiveyou would need to take a look and my site and tell me what would work best, I want to keep it as clean as it is.
August 5, 2005 at 7:45 pm #670298AnonymousInactiveIf you add a link to the site in your signature line, then you’ll have a link from here every time you post.
August 5, 2005 at 7:46 pm #670299AnonymousInactiveI am new to all this and dont really understand the differences with links to and from. As you can see i do listen sometimes.
thank you for your help.
August 5, 2005 at 9:03 pm #670304AnonymousInactiveOk now that i have links from my signature leading to my site, What would you say i would have to do to have outbound links, keeping in mind i want the site clean and fresh looking ?
August 5, 2005 at 9:17 pm #670305AnonymousInactiveYou could add small footer links, or you could link to something that you’re discussing in your forums.
August 5, 2005 at 9:29 pm #670306AnonymousInactiveYour a superstar, so letting someone post in my forum with a signature link would work just fine then?
Thanks for all your help :rasta:
