Targetting keywords such as free online slots, surely most players dont deposit. I understand there are online casinos advertised to but 90% of the slots must be kids playing for fun. Is ranking for free online slots really worth it?

Hasn’t been for me in the past and I’ve ranked in the top 3 a lot for those keywords… maybe it takes a very long time for them to convert :) I haven’t seen the benefit, but that is me… maybe I didn’t have the perfect landing page for it.

I guess the hope is that some of the free players turn get hooked on a game and play for real money.

It’s a good hope :) I have many people who play the free slots on my site daily.. I have 1 person (in 6 months) that converted. That person deposited $25 and is gone.

I keep the free slots on my site, but it really doesn’t give me much… Maybe I’ll change the landing page and see what happens, but I have no huge urge since I haven’t gained crap from it.

By definition the word “free” means no cost involved. I try and limit it’s use.

I have a “free” site and it’s never really produced anything despite steady traffic. However, it is good for providing a secondary site for link exchnages and similar, so there is some benefit and you never know, one good player is all it takes.

What would be the norm for the use of a keyword in your sites contents? Do you think 1 in 20 would be called excessive?
I’ve read you can be penalized for this so I was just looking for some recommendations.

tell you what, if you write genuine content on a specific topic, your keyword will be repeated naturally, which would give you a good % of that keyword relative to the whole text. what do you think the engineers behind SEs base their keyword % on?

so think of that and you’ll do well.

if you are looking for a particular number then it’s 4-6%.

then again, if you use that keyword in the title tag, h1 tag, h2 tag – this would be a nice way of making that phrase look important for SEs…

    over and out…

    ps.

p.s. just noticed, on this page http://www.aaaonlinecasinoguide.com/fr/en-ligne-casino.html the first banner on the right corner is advertising casino tropez in russian, not spanish…

    Thanks for the reply bzzt
Actually the banner is suppose to French but if it’s not english I can’t read anyway. I’ll try to find the right one or just remove it completely.

It definitely does not hurt to be ranked those keywords but these days the average internet user is more savvy when it comes to terms like “free.”

The term “free” usually implies that the user will have to depart with some personal info like a credit card.
