Italians Nail Online Gambling Gangsters
109 online gambling sites and 80 individuals have been identified by the Italian Technological Anti-Crime group as likely targets for further investigation. However, it appears that the crime that most site operators are being investigated for are tax crimes, not gambling crimes.
More than 650 tax and police officers are on the case which is being conducted across 45 provinces in Italy. The Catania tax police are spearheading the operation from their offices in Rome, Italy’s capital city. The investigation has been going on secretly for over one year, and 11 computers have been confiscated so far.
The Italian authorities suspect that online gambling sites and portals may be collecting funds illegally within Italy, and are thus unable to report the income to the appropriate tax authorities.
Lets hop the US and Canadian Governments dont follow this same path!
