Everyone can state their opinion here.
Just insulting and belittling people, attacking people and accusing them of immoral behavior without foundation is in poor form and starts a vicious circle.
I should hope that all of us can speak their mind without resorting to that.
99.9% of the time there are no problems – and if that one percent when there is a problem repeatedly has the same person at the core, we do need to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
Let’s get back to supporting each other instead of attacking each other and take the opportunity to learn all that we can learn from each other.

Classics isn’t here and can’t respond to anything that is said anymore.
It should have stopped after Lou’s post about the door – Classics earned the remark “Dont let the door hit you in the ass, you might get a headache.” (Gonna have to remember that one!
)Whether I agree or disagree of Classic’s fate is not the point I’m making here.
I hate to see this backstabbing of a member (ex member) who isn’t able to defend himself. The deed is done, whether everyone agrees or not, and makes no sense to be dancing on the grave. This is a public forum.
Also, posting his identity and website -> that should be edited, it is in bad taste. On the internet, when one doesn’t wish one’s identity public, that must be respected no matter how you feel about the guy, that’s just wrong.
This thread is worse that the one that was moved to the attic!! Talk about flaming! Sheeeeesh!
Like I said, let’s get back to supporting each other instead of attacking each other.

Hell, Classics has his moments and I generally agree with a lot of what he posts, its just a matter of HOW he posts that gets him in hot water.
In order to maintain the peace and keep CAP a productive and friendly community we have to occasionally administer a little “tough love”. Hopefully this trip behind the woodshed and time out period will be the Tonic that cures Classics case of terminal red ass.
I certainly hope so as I hate to lose any contributing member. They say time heals all wounds, let’s hope it’s true.

Just my two cents: Yes, classics can be an irritant at times, but I don’t think it gives anyone the right to crap on him either. When this happens we are no better than the person we are pissed at.

Islandmaan, I do know how you feel. He accused me of starting flames here and everywhere, with the truth being that I NEVER start flames – I abhor them. He kept repeating it and I am sure many of the newer members came away believing it.
I don’t think most people realize how hurtful some things are when they are directed against you personally.
He would have days where he would insult people over and over, calling them stupid and incompetent and all kinds of choice words. This can be funny unless you are the recipient and want to negate the statement, but every way you can think of doing it really WILL make you look stupid.
The most unfounded statements are the ones one cannot defend oneself against – how could you explain that you did not think of bribery? Personally, it would never have entered my mind when reading your post. Now, who has the dirty mind? But since you cannot prove what you thought, you are bound to be having a hard time dealing with this.
You can call it an “abrasive posting style”, and CAP has overlooked it over and over again, also giving him warnings to stop insulting people.
I actually usually agree with Classics, I do on may many issues. He has a refreshing attitude towards a lot of SEO practices. But abusing people for no reason will eventually come back to you – in the beginning people still thought it funny but then the complaints and hurt feelings just kept piling up.
There was value in his contributions, but eventually the hurt feelings and complaints he engendered outweighed that.
Islandmaan, Classics has a problem with exposing his identity, I think. The anonymity – well, with the prominent stance he takes on SEO, his site would undergo considerable scrutiny. Also, he used to have long, combative threads at WOL under his real name. I think that is why he doesn’t want anyone to know who he is. This belligerence is not a new thing, nor a thing unique to CAP.
In the end, I find it inconceivable that someone would purposefully hurt so many of the people in his own community. I must assume Classics has a problem. I hope the hiatus will give him a chance to sort that out.
I think we need to let it go for now – what’s done is done and perhaps Classics will be back with us with a fresh outlook and invigorated postings.
Sometimes I agree other times – disagree with Classics, but IMHO, you guys did nothing to prove you act any different than him.
Classics was banned for addressing some of the webmastrs here badly (according to the Professor; Classics never said anyhting bad about me), and the minute this thread was posted, respected memebers came out and start calling Classics names, his sites – “shi**y”, etc.
What is the difference between Classics “implying” something, and TheCapitan just comming out and dumping a bucket of it?
I dont know, I think there should be an equal treatment – nomatter if you are newbie or and old-timer…You can’t just dog somebody for whatever reason.
He did not imply he called me a person who bribes, I may be the oldest online person in this business and I don’t think you will find I have done any group online.
Brian, I am not justifying Classics’ post.
I have always respected his opinion for the fact that he never sugar-coated anything, however, I usually stop reading a thread from the point when the webmasters start barking at one another, so I could have missed offensive posts by Classics.All I tried to say is that there is no difference between Classics calling you a briber and TheCapital calling Classics [PG-13].
As far as him not willing to have his website(s) revealed – I completely uderstand that. There are webmasters here who will use bad tactics, I have already learned this the hard way, and unfortunatelly none of the moderators could do anything about it, nobody could do anything about it, but ourselves.
In a nutshell – if you have beef – take it outside. I believe that the intentions of the CAP creators were far from a webmaster-differences-settling-arena.
