Hi,
we are considering putting an IP block in place to block all users from Germany to our site. (Getting a bit tough here at the moment with the authorities).
Does anybody here know how that would/could affect the SE results? Would the bots find this as a bad thing? etc etc…
Basically, we don’t want to mess up our rankings that we have in google.

If that’s the case I find it quite surprising.

I have blocked visitors from certain countries as well. To do this I simply asked my web hosting company to block visitors from certain countries, it was that simple. Not sure if your host can handle this, but it is apparantly an easy thing to do.

Well, it’s a grey area. They are more likely to enforce things though than the US.
I talked to someone about this just recently and things appear to be in limbo there, too. It is smart to serve the States from Europe and Europe from the States.
