Just wanted to share an exceptional article from a guest contributor to CAP, David Merry, former head of Link Building at Greenlight Search, now lead of CastleCasino.com.

David provides keen insight on some great solutions for affiliates in the online gambling space to grow their link building strategy.

Link Building Tips for the Online Casino Community

Love the section on optimizing current backlinks… This is a key that so many people forget about and such a great technique where you do not have to recreate the wheel.

I like the saying i heard a while back

“The best links you can have are the ones no body but you has”

Basically i try and spend an hour each day looking for GEMS! Its hard work but if you find one its actually priceless in so many ways.

Having one “Gem” IMO is better then having several dozen normal ones. Have to think outside the box and find them. It can take months to get a few of these.

I am with GFPC.. you have to go outside of the box for links, especially easy links.

There are out there, and there are easy to find.

The one tip i will share is – Always try and get your link above the fold :-) Use them in such a way it gets the visitors to click… I always like to take that approach and use all sorts of call to actions.

I really do not think they are only for seo purposes – i really try and use them for traffic as well – you will be surprised how many clicks you can get from them – especially if your page is really targeted to the link.

GFPC, you are sharing key advice here…. Above the fold on your site is KEY Real Estate, so the best information, ads and links that are proven revenue makers for your company MUST always be above the fold!!!

As well as alterations to text.

    ” Visit”
    “site name”
    “different anchors”

mix er up like a tossed salad! :-)

Anchor text variety is so important, otherwise your link profile won’t look natural. I think its also a good idea to build links to inner pages too, and to obtain some nofollow links (that way you look even more natural). Any link that is permanent and relevant will help you to rank better, even if its not the most powerful link. Every little bit helps when your trying to rank in one of the most competitive industries :)
