    Hello all at cap

I am very new to the business and would like to apologise in advance for what will probably be a long winded newbie post so thank you for your time and patience. If any of you have the time to answer any of the following questions it would be really appreciated.

I would really like some help and advice regarding the start up of a fully branded content rich casino/poker review/bonus affiliate portal aimed at the UK market. I’ve read a lot of the posts and tried to get as much information as possible but still feel I have so much to learn before I get started and spend my budget.

The first thing to mention is that although I may make many landing page sites in the future to draw in traffic to the main site, I really want to put all my time and money into one really nice branded portal that I can feel proud to promote on and offline.

Design & Function: I have looked at a large number of affiliate portal designs/live sites and to be honest, as a player myself, I think so many of them totally suck. They either contain huge amounts of information which is crazy on the eye that I just have to shut my browser immediately or they are so basic and lack imagination that I would’nt trust their review if they even bothered to have a review. My first concern is that am I missing something, I don’t know much about this business so are these sites designed this way for a reason to do with seo etc. For example, portal sites that I think create a great first impression on the eye that I would use myself as a gambler are sites such as:

(BTW, I have absolutely no association with any of the links I give below, they are just examples of sites that I really like)

    http://www.pokerroomreview.com/
    http://www.gambling.co.uk/
    http://www.casinoman.net/
    http://uk.pokernews.com/
    http://www.casinochoice.com/

As a player I think these sites look great and as a portal owner I would really like a site that I own to have the look, design and function that these sites have. I don’t want to design the site myself, just be able to learn to run it and maintain it once built. I have looked all over the net and sometimes can find software that is maybe nice but then would need a designer to custom design it etc.

    1. Am I thinking along the wrong lines? does a site like any of the above cost a fortune to have designed and built etc. Do any cap members have any guarded pro portal design contacts that they could put me in touch with if I signed up as an affiliate webmaster under them etc. or is it just a case of joining elance or escript and just posting a project? Are there any really well known casino portal design pros that I just can’t find?

    Next:

One of the concepts I like as a player is that I like review and bonus sites that offer me an independent seperate deal/reward to play at whichever online gaming establishment they choose. You know the thing, sign up using this code and once we confirm your account as a referal from us we will give you a free poker chip set or enter you into our private freeroll poker game held at whichever online casino. A casino bonus review site that can really establish a tight ongoing relationship with their players and mailing list.

    2. Are bonus reward incentive promotions allowed or are they illegal or seen as bad form by the authorities as this type of behaviour is seen to encourage promlem gambling? Any thoughts on this would be great.

I will leave it there for now and thanks so much for your time and trouble.

    Hi UK Casino Host

I am afraid I don’t have all the answers you’re looking for and it’s not a simple matter of yes and no. Sometimes a site works and it’s unclear why.
There is a lot of information on this forum so it’ll be useful to read through and gather as much knowledge as you can.

What I can say is you are right about it being important for a casino (bonus) review site to develop a relationship with your members/players. This can be done by offering something extra as you already point out.
I would not start doing this straight away though, but it’s definitely something you can look into at a later stage.

I’ll leave it with that, hope you found this somewhat useful.
And if you need specific UK-facing products for your site I can assist too.

Be careful of offering cash or items in exchange for people depositing money at a gambling site, laws are different everwhere and that could tie you into the deal of collecting casino money for an item. I would seperate it it from rewards for deposits into somthing else.

Also, make sure you put your stuff into a database when you start as going from html to a database is 3X the work of doing it right the first time :P

    Good luck!
