    Good evening, CAP! :colgate:

A few days ago I revised the front page of my Online Poker Craze site. I added a few poker rooms, rearranged the layout, and changed the color scheme (I love CSS).

I wanted to get some feedback from you guys. What can I do to improve it even more? If this was your site, what would you do with it? (Please don’t say “Select All, Delete.”) :D

I’m getting some traffic from MSN now (20 uniques per day — certainly nothing to write home about, but I think it’s a good start). So I’m getting some traffic, but very few people are clicking on my links. I check all of my stats twice a day. Every day it’s the same thing. Zero. Zero. Zero.

Two or three people downloaded a few of the poker rooms, but they didn’t deposit anything. I did have one person take a $10 bonus from one of the places, and with the 25% commission rate, I’m actually in the hole $2.50 for that program. Bah.

So, if a few of you could take a look at the site and give me some tips, I would really appreciate it.

I am also looking to exchange more links with that site, and also with my new site. I think this may help out a bit. Everyone is invited to exchange links with both of my sites. This board has over 900 members, and every last one of you is invited. Regular posters, lurkers, ….. everyone. :cheesy:

One last thing — the forms I created for exchanging links are not automated link exchange programs. The information submitted through those forms gets emailed to me, and all of the links are added to my site by hand. If you don’t want to use the forms, or if you want me to sign up through your form first, just shoot me a PM!

    Thanks everyone!

Do you know what people have searched for when they were sent to your site by MSN?

I would take a look on that.

I remember that a few weeks ago I got people from msn looking for “Colosseum xxxxx”. That people were looking for the Colosseum in Italy and not for Colosseum Casino :)

Thanks for the reply, sharpgambler, and thanks for the tip about looking at the keywords. I will take a closer look at that and perhaps tweak things a bit to see if anything changes. It could be that my visitors are mainly interested in “learning” or “practicing” poker instead of actually playing with real money.

    Hi Dave !

    :hithead:

    Some comments & ideas….

    – I like the minimalist banner exposure and text-weighted site design
….. it gives you more credibility than mindless :banger: banner farms :)

    – I like the simple but funky logo design
….. its playful and informal, drawing people into engaging with the content

    – I like the content layout of the home page and the way that you highlight the poker room sections / offers

    – I like the fact that you have made a selection of poker rooms. You chose the magic 6. Any more than 6 listings tend to show lack of discernment. You have made a choice for your players. This is adds value to visitors and prospective players ! :rockband:

    – I like the fact that 80% of your homepage content is above the fold (visitors dont have to page down to see much)

    – I LOVE the banner love you have given trusty 7 Sultans Poker !! Its a great offer!

    – I would bump up the ranking of Royal Vegas Poker above Crazy, to maximise shelf-space exposure for the related poker rooms. This will help your affiliate performance in Fortune Affiliates.

    – I would plan to include the following sections going forward:

    a. A Tournament section with live data feeds from your poker rooms using RSS (see my blog for detail on RSS :Partier: This will add dynamic content to your site with ZERO maintenance overhead for you. Nag your programs for feeds from their client poker rooms (talk to Brad W for Fortune Affiliates .. Did I say Brad W? Yeah … thats me !!

    b. Once you have the traffic to warrant it, and if you have Titanium Test****s :3eyes: (because its a demanding responsibility), then start a FORUM

    c. If you are an avid poker player that is exposed to exciting or interesting experiences, its an opportunity for you to start your own poker blog. You can do this easily with one of a couple of web apps like blogger .

    d. If you need to wait a while before diving into forum management, I’d recommend you get a newsletter going. You need to get and stay in touch with your players. Check out emailbrain. Its a cool webapp for this, and really inexpensive for what it can do.

I’d also suggest you keep in contact with your poker room affiliate managers, and milk them for ideas and promotions. If you dont ask – you’ll never get !

Oh, and talk to that affiliate guy at Fortune Affiliates… Whats his name again ? Oh yes, its Brad W !! ;-) and he can be reached on 1 800 871 3109 (U.S. toll-free).

    Hope that helps (for starters).

    Best regards

    Brad W

    Hi Brad!

Wow, what a response. Thanks for all of your ideas and feedback — very much appreciated.

I haven’t done much with Online Poker Craze lately; I’ve been concentrating on my other site, Choice Gambling. I am promoting 7 Sultans Poker on Choice Gambling, and I am planning to promote Royal Vegas Poker too (I haven’t posted the review yet… it’s on my list of things to do). I’ll be giving priority (higher placement) to the non-rakeback poker rooms, so both 7 Sultans and Royal Vegas will be at or near the top of the list.

You mentioned RSS — in the future I would like to implement some XML or RSS feeds on both of my sites. The less manual updating I have to do, the happier I’ll be. :)

Thanks again for your in-depth response!
