If there has been one business online that has skyrocketed to incredible financial heights it is the online casinos. Online gambling has been over the last decade one of the fastest rising financial venues ever.It is a trillion dollar business that is expected to keep growing at a double digit rate. There are tens of thousands of online casinos world wide. I have always wondered where and when online casinos started and how humble was its beginning. In this article we will take you back to the beginning to examine the history of online gambling.
Online gambling had its humble beginnings in the early 1990’s when in 1994 Antigua and Barbuda passed one of the most ground breaking acts of that time when it passed the free trade and processing act which allowed companies to place their applications to start online casino establishments. As soon as this happened the first online gambling software company Microgaming was founded. They began offering online casino software to any company that wanted to start an online gambling website. Microgaming became an instant hit and it still to this day provides software to the big online casino companies. 1 Years after this special act was passed The Gaming Club came out with the first online casino site. One year later Intercasino became the second online casino to open its virtual doors to gamblers. In the next 3 years online gambling grew from almost nothing to an amazing 835 million dollars in revenue which was one of the most explosive growth spurts of any online business. Online gambling is now a trillion dollar business worldwide and shows no signs of stopping its growth. What hurt it in the USA was that their goverment passed a law which made it tough to make transfers for american citizens. We do however believe that sooner or later our government will eventually make online gambling totally legal and actually try to regulate it.
