Hi all, I am interested to know if anyone is aware whether hiding affiliate links actually is a good or a bad thing.
To the newbies newer than me: This mean that when a potential player hovers over a link on your site, the entire **http://ca$ino.com/affid=69 link is displayed as something else, like “Visit Ca$ino.com Now!” (by use of an onMouseOver html tag) in the bottom status bar of your browser.
To the veterans out there. I am interested to know if this affects search engine results in a bad way and result in lower PR? Also, I have read that some people actually would prefer to click on a link that displays everything, including affid etc? What’s your experience with regards to this?
Thanks in advance.

What I ended up doing on my sites to enhance my tracking of signups was to make each banner/link go to a page called signup-casino1.html. That signup page is simply a new blank page with a refresh redirect to my affiliate link as well as my tracking code. Voila, I can not only track when people click on my banners, but they also don’t see the aff code junk. But the main things I am concerned about are how many people clicked on sign up now, and then I can compare that to clicks on the casino site end. I am not a SEO expert, but I think this also helps since all of your banner links are now internal pages rather than external links.
Keep in mind that those die hards who think using any aff link will give them bad luck/less payouts/whatever, will probably still type the URL in rather than click any banner you have.

I’ve seen the theory that having affiliate links on your page hurts your rankings, but haven’t seen any evidence of it anywhere, so any knowledge you can share in this area would be great.

I only get 3 word search terms from google, and my PR is still 0. That said, the stuff I have read is google doesn’t link banner farms/aff link farms, and they don’t like tons of external links on a page. The way I am doing it takes care of both of those problems so I really don’t think it can do anything but improve your google results. Again, I am not a SEO masta so YMMV.
