My site is pr4 so today I noticed the google pr bar was showing 0. so I went to website marketing and looked up my future pr and it showed pr4. But it showed pr 0 for tool bar queries. what does this mean? greek39
November 22, 2005 at 11:20 pm #677123AnonymousInactiveIs there a difference when using www. domain.com and domain.com?
Google has always considered www as a subdomain, which it technically is. So, it is not unusual to have two different readings with and without the www.
November 22, 2005 at 11:27 pm #677124AnonymousInactiveI have heard that it is a bad thing to have both domain.com and www .domain.com, so I use .htaccess to forward the domain.com to www .domain.com
Hope that didn’t come out as confusing as I think it might

That’s a good idea if you’re using proper rewrite rules… I think you want a “permanent redirect.” I can’t remember if that is 301 or 302 as far as apache goes. Maybe you could post the accurate info. This keeps your PR from being split up by people linking to you in different ways. Sometimes, you’ll find domains that have different pageranks on each, and it will be PR3 and PR7. So, just for information purposes there’s no requirement that one needs to be PR0.
There are also many people who pay no attention to that at all and do just fine. Personally, if everything is working ok and I’m getting desired results, I’m reluctant to change anything.
November 23, 2005 at 1:25 am #677136AnonymousInactiveI really appreciate the help. Now the tool bar query is restored I find this really confusing. I do use htaccess as well. As for domains this morning I tried every possible domain possible, http://www.mydomain.com, mydomain.com, any http://www.mydomain.com/ and it showed pr 0 in the tool bar query. Maybe a glitch in the sytem? So I just check again and everything is fine. I am not a big time pr buff but it does have alot interesting spin offs. greek39
