December 14, 2007 at 2:21 pm #756503AnonymousInactiveWhat’s the deal with the banner change? Is it required? Will old banners still track properly? I certainly hope so because I am sick of going through thousands of forum posts to change a banner so as NOT to give free traffic out. Especially when it is a SIMPLE change on the affy program side of things.
Sorry to be bitchy… but this stuff has been annoying to me lately and causes a lot of time and effort which should be put towards NEW marketing ideas.
December 14, 2007 at 3:15 pm #756509AnonymousInactiveI notice that the codes given on the front page of the aff site when I am logged in don’t match the ones I have on the site.
I guess I need to change them out?
December 14, 2007 at 3:57 pm #756514AnonymousInactiveMay I suggest re-direct links to fix all that.. I use links like http://www.allfreechips.com/play_casino427.html that then grab the aff link form a db and go, comes in super handy for forum posts as its now dynamic to any change.

December 14, 2007 at 4:03 pm #756515AnonymousInactiveI understand that… But I have some old sites that I don’t want to have to create a bunch of code for.
BESIDES – Affy programs should be doing this on their backend…. The ones that don’t do this for us are not doing it for a reason…. to get free traffic.
So, do we have to change our links?
December 14, 2007 at 10:39 pm #756534AnonymousInactiveWell I’m definately with Andrew here. It is very feasible to take care of all of that via a simple php/html or .htaccess redirection but this is the only industry I can think of where you constantly have to be on the lookout for sneaky referral code changes (often unannounced so as to siphon off some more free traffic).
An extra nice twist to the whole story comes when you take the initiative and implement a perfectly logical redirection and then have doubts about the “tracking”. Let me tell you the first thing the programs will tell you is “don’t mess with the links”, “you changed the links”, “you’re not supposed to…” blah. And then try explaining your code to someone who has jack all knowledge about programming etc.

OK – I’m seriously getting annoyed here.
I know that AFTER I CREATE THE CODE YOU SUGGEST that I only have to replace my link once in my database AFTER THAT. Maybe YOU don’t realize the amount of time this will create for me initially per site (especially on the forum sites).
Anyway – It’s really not worth my time anymore…. Playshare / Lawrence, please let us know if we have to replace our links. THAT would be nice to know so that we don’t continue giving away free traffic.
December 15, 2007 at 4:10 pm #756568AnonymousInactiveremeber that next time you need to change a link
Takes me 2 seconds to update every single link on all my sites, i think i would shoot myself to try and search them out each time.

December 15, 2007 at 11:15 pm #756593JimmMemberHi all,
I see I’ve been missing out on a bit of a debate here
Your CasinoShare affiliate links (i.e. the clickthrough hyperlink) will remain the same as before, but you will have to get new code for the new banners for the timebeing. We will be resolving this issue early next week.
We understand that changing links and banners is often a pain in the:shakebutt, and that there are ways and means of making your lives easier, but the truth is this is not always possible, particularly with new creative.
If an existing banner is overwritten with a new banner, it essentially means that we are forcing banners on affiliates who may not necessarily want that particular one. Perhaps it is the wrong color, or perhaps its theme is not in line with the affiliate’s portal… there a ton of variables we simply cannot anticipate.
As I said, however, we will be looking at who is still serving “old” banners early in the week, and will (a) automatically update those banners with as similar a banner as possible, and (b) contacting the affected affiliates to notify them of the required changes.
If anyone has any specific suggestions or requirements in this regard, please e-mail your affiliate manager.
Regards,
Lawrence.December 16, 2007 at 12:18 am #756595AnonymousInactiveNobody talked about “overwriting” banners. All we were asking for was to redirect the old link codes to the new ones in the backend. There is no reasonable explanation to say that this is not feasible. “Sometimes it’s difficult” certainly isn’t a valid excuse.
December 16, 2007 at 1:18 am #756597AnonymousInactivehow i see it now
my old links are still tracking
so
they only thing what changed is their offer and some new banners
i dont think all other links before that wont track anymore.
And please remember
when Grand Monaco changed to Grand Mondial
Playshare did let us know some time before that we have to change all links,
due that was another URL they made up.
I did read nowhere that we have to change any old links for CasinoShare now.December 16, 2007 at 10:22 am #756609LucretiaMemberLawrence,
Just give us some auto-updating banner codes in a few regular sizes and you do not have to put a lot of work in to overwriting banners.
I do not seem to get this clear to me :
“Your CasinoShare affiliate links (i.e. the clickthrough hyperlink) will remain the same as before, but you will have to get new code for the new banners for the timebeing”
Are the old bannerlinks tracking players or not ?
Not very amusing if it is not.
Rick
