Yeah, right… better algorithm my big fat ass.
Look what is #2 for “online gambling” – I’m sure you’ve seen similar sites before, correct?
Then look at the CACHE.
Can anyone say CLOAK?
February 20, 2004 at 8:00 pm #645107AnonymousInactivehaha too funny. Google is a dinosaur gone extinct in 10 years.
February 20, 2004 at 8:35 pm #645109vladcizsolMemberI have noticed that Google is currently rewarding the following practices:
1. Cloaking – a large number of the top sites are doing this even though Google claims it is expressly forbidden.
2. PR Inflation Schemes via purchased non reciprocated links. A great illustration of this can been seen in the Google SERPs for “Online Casino” and other high value terms. A couple of links is one thing, but to buy thousands of inbound links skews everything in favor of those with the largest link budgets. This will quickly lock out honest webmasters or those with legitimately good content and design if it is allowed to continue unchecked.
3. Web Log and Guest Book Spamming. Another technique that is supposedly banned and will get you penalized is being used by a large number of Googles top listings.
It’s laughable how the SEO geeks come to the forums and apply liberal doses of saliva to the balls of the Google Algo engineers and appluad the ‘much better’ returns. Are they blind or do they pay this lip service to cover THEIR tracks?
I never hear one of these elitist assholes utter a peep about all these deceptive techniques which are being handsomely rewarded by Google.
Makes you wonder, huh?
February 21, 2004 at 8:56 pm #645163AnonymousInactiveFunny shit is right. And Google Guy is as full of it as the rest of them.
I was simply amazed – or more correctly, shellshocked – to see results similar to pre-Florida come back as strong as they did. It’s almost as if they removed part of their filter instead of fixing it.
I saw 4 copies of the same content with different URLS in the top 50 – made me totally sick because no work was required to do that kind of site. I work my ass off and whatever’s left gets kicked until it is unrecognizable – and in the meantime someone who spent maybe a day creating the main content page, and then bought a few different URLs, is reaping the rewards.
What a crock of shit! If this is the bullshit game that Google is going to play, so be it. I have plenty of other URLs that I can test with.
February 21, 2004 at 9:05 pm #645164AnonymousInactiveI have decided NOT to worry about Google for the time being. I am seeing a rise in MSN and Yahoo visitors and want to know why and what to do there to help it along.
The days of worshipping the google gods are over. Bring on the competition!
February 21, 2004 at 10:31 pm #645167AnonymousInactiveI decided to do a little more digging… so I checked some of my more “niche” keyword phrases… and on most of them I have moved up slightly. What’s strange, though, is that they don’t have any real special optimization… in fact, I would almost consider the optimization to be slightly worse with the new site rather than the old one.
So one of two things must’ve happened – it liked the new site better, or else I didn’t notice something that it didn’t like.
And, I tried my keyword phrases in Chinese as well – and lo and behold, I have moved up quite a bit – but truthfully I do not know where I ranked pre-Florida, post-Florida, pre-Brandy for the Chinese keywords so I can’t say for sure whether it is better or not. It does, however, lead me to believe that we are not back to pre-Florida but that part of the Florida filter was modified.
I do know that for the competitive keywords in English I took a big hit… so something must be wrong there, especially judging by the lack of quality in many sites above me.
February 21, 2004 at 10:38 pm #645168AnonymousInactiveGoogle likes shixxy sites now.
I have a few started sites that have only one page – works in progress. These are doing surprisingly well. Unfortunately there is little of interest to be found on them.
I have scrambled to put a little bit of info on them – probably now they will drop.
Gamesandcasino is almost back to where it used to be – except in rank.
I think it is a bad time to make changes.
February 27, 2004 at 8:53 pm #645441AnonymousInactiveSomebody whack google

King Badabing ©March 14, 2004 at 6:58 pm #646231AnonymousInactiveAnd Google regurgitates again…
Look at the #1 site for the keyphrase “online gambling” – or better yet, look at Google’s cache of the site:
Actually I shouldn’t complain much because we’ve moved extremely high this time around – but I still hate to see BS results.
