Anyone know when google updates their PR?
November 3, 2006 at 1:42 pm #714442AnonymousInactiveYou can see it at: http://www.seocompany.ca/pagerank/page-rank-update-list.html
It just happened not that long ago, so is estimated for the end of January. For me, it was a bust. I got higher PR on all my sites and then it was all rolled back.
November 3, 2006 at 3:17 pm #714462AnonymousInactiveThis new update is going take a long time. MY sites have been bouncing all over the the place since October 1. Google is doing many things currently such as, implementing newer filters for spam, updating PR, ect…
Although your PR maybe rolled back this may be only temporary this would apply also to indexed pages getting the boot. I would expect this to last as Kwblue stated at least to the end of January, 2007.
Combined with the million of complaints and drop in revenues Google has no other option but to take some aggressive action. I have noticed my backlinks are slowly being cleaned from spam, over a thousand removed porn sites removed. Basically Google has had enough and will be taking the boot to spammers.
At the end Google will be a cleaner SE for a while anyway. As stated in a previous post some programs who utilize spam techniques stand a good chance of being removed.

November 3, 2006 at 4:24 pm #714469AnonymousInactiveI will never understand why people care about PR.
G&C has had a PR of 5 forever and it makes never no mind of a difference.
SERPS make a difference, PR is for the birds.
November 3, 2006 at 7:16 pm #714486AnonymousInactivei think there will be an update pretty soon, maybe by the end of next week we should see changes…personal opinion though…
November 3, 2006 at 8:39 pm #714499AnonymousInactiveof course SERPS are most important,
but your pr influences this
(with pr i dont mean the “toolbar-pr” , wich is a nice little green entertainment thingy anyway, lol)November 4, 2006 at 6:12 pm #714575AnonymousInactiveDominique wrote:I will never understand why people care about PR.G&C has had a PR of 5 forever and it makes never no mind of a difference.

In terms of SERPS I agree. However I think PR is undervalued in navigational terms – I do believe it is a good indicator of the effectiveness of your internal site navigation. Beyond that….:baby:

Your right, but remember, with good PR is more easy to get boog backlinks in link exchanges.. :shakebutt

Wanna bet google will crack down on that sometime in the near future?
It’s already obfuscating links as best it can, trying to confuse the issue.
Not an easy feat for google to sort this, but I have no doubt they are trying and sooner or later they will succeed. Now they are concentrating on blackhatters, and they are far from done there.
So, meanwhile, yes, you are right, it helps getting good links. And they are important when climbing up the google ladder. But don’t count on that to last, always be careful who you link to and check why the PR is high. Is it because the site deserves it or is it a linking scheme?

greek39huh??????
Google reported a profit that nearly doubled on revenue that soared 70 percent to $2.69 billion.
November 5, 2006 at 4:14 pm #714610AnonymousInactiveIt is in google’s best interest to have the sites that are most relevant to the search top the results.
That has to be it’s long term policy if they are going to have people search and be satisfied, and the success depends on the number of searches.
If google would lose sight of that, they would eventually slip.
I am quite sure they are fully aware of that, it is the base of their success.

Your right they are having a great year. I heard they were losing revenues in a certain sector of their business.
For PR Dominique is right serps is what drive the machine, no question.

Mostly 3 months.November 5, 2006 at 6:00 pm #714617AnonymousInactiveFrom what I read, but I could have misinterpreted it, is Google is not going to list every page anymore but just certain ones for each site and this why many pages and complete sites are no longer listed for certain keywords.
I added a whole bunch of new pages months ago and they did get crawled by google but vanished a few weeks ago. I thought I was in the sandbox, but now I’m wondering.
November 5, 2006 at 9:54 pm #714623AnonymousInactiveif you do a search for site:http://www.mysite.com , those pages are not listed?
(btw google does stil list all site/pages, but they do put pages with double content and pages with no backlinks in a supplemental index)
