January 1, 2005 at 2:31 pm #659584AnonymousInactivePretty much the same for me
Thanks for the tool Randy!
January 2, 2005 at 1:39 am #659609AnonymousInactiveI’ve had a few sites improve, but for the most part, I’ve stayed about the same.
The buzz is that it’s become harder to move up to the higher PR levels, but I can’t verify that factually. I was expecting some of of my PR 4’s to turn into 5’s this time out.
January 2, 2005 at 4:52 pm #659617AnonymousInactiveMore links.
Still going down.
Wonderful heheh…
January 2, 2005 at 5:37 pm #659620AnonymousInactiveSame here :shooter:
Working my *** off for links and the reward is less PR :Bong:January 2, 2005 at 8:27 pm #659622AnonymousInactiveThanks Randy,
Looks like a drop in pr for most pr 6 – pr 7 sites. This update does not make any sense at all. I have reveiwed my sites and other competitors with odd results. Most have a drop in pr. So I believe you are correct in your statement Randy.Happy New Years!
January 2, 2005 at 8:57 pm #659623AnonymousInactiveThat’s the buzz I’ve been hearing too, Cap. PR 7’s and 6’s seem to be moving downward all over the net.
January 2, 2005 at 9:13 pm #659624AnonymousGuestI fully expected a higher PR this update, but remained the same. I’m happy enough that my interior pages are gaining PR. I lost a lot of interior pr when I made all my interior – and most of my incoming – links point to my url WITH the “www”.
Last update my rank was evenly split between: http:myurl.com and htp://www.myurl.com. Both versions had a PR of 5. I lost one pr rank for the “www”-less url, but I imagine in the months to come it will transfer to my “www” url.
(I could obviously use some better terminology than “www” and “www”-less LoL)
The thing to remember is that, at least in my opinion, PR doesn’t matter – it’s the SERPS that count! I’ve found that the only time my PR ever meant anything was when I tried to get links. I’ve pretty much been ignoring the PR of sites that want to link to me – I’m going after the serps, not the PR.
It’s all fun when there’s an update, though – just another stat in this big game of “Sim Website”. :1circling

That’s how I see it, too.
January 2, 2005 at 10:32 pm #659626AnonymousInactiveBoo! Mine went down too, after working to improve, this is what I get- screw you Google! lol :flamer:
January 2, 2005 at 11:49 pm #659629AnonymousInactiveOne thing to keep in mind is that the only thing that’s updating right now is ‘visible’ PR; Google has a running PR on their backend that affects your SERP’s. They’re not making it visible or current through their toolbar for the same reason they’re not showing accurate backlinks: to block attempts to manipulate their SERP’s.
i.e., just because the toolbar says a site has a PR of 1 doesn’t mean that the site has a PR of 1 right now. It means it had a PR of 1 last time Google updated their display.
January 3, 2005 at 12:03 am #659631AnonymousInactiveIt’s my understanding that the “displayed” PR is updated on a quarterly basis. How often are the serps updated? Daily?
January 3, 2005 at 12:37 am #659634AnonymousGuestThe serps seem to update constantly.
I’ve read in seo forums that they do update daily, but sometimes it doesn’t seem that way.
:crazy:As far as PR goes, the way I’ve heard it is that the page rank you see on the google toolbar (the little green indicator) is never up-to-date, and whatever attempts you’ve made in the past 6 weeks or so won’t show up until the next update – in another 3 months.
There are online tools that give a more more accurate measure of a site’s link popularity, such as this one at Marketleap.com: http://www.marketleap.com/publinkpop/default.htm .
I can’t vouch for it’s accuracy, but it’s fun to play with. :1circling
January 3, 2005 at 12:45 am #659635AnonymousInactiveGood tool, fergie thanks!
January 3, 2005 at 1:44 pm #659656AnonymousInactiveI use to think that it would take a month or so for new pages to see visible PR updated but that wasn’t so for this one. On one my sites, an interior page went from PR 0 to PR 4, and it was put up 2-3 weeks ago. Maybe because it is a new site. I really don’t know.
