Google rolled out Penguin 2.0 late yesterday. How are your sites fairing?

June 1, 2013 at 11:57 am #833376BFPMemberLet me tell you one think that you need to sort out in case you haven’t. Make sure that different variations of your brand name make up more than 60% of your incoming link ratio. Exact match should not be over 10%.
Penguin 2.0 is taking that factor into account, which means even spammy sites, tend to rank higher because of good brand vs money term ratio.
June 1, 2013 at 6:52 pm #833380CasinoCouponsMemberThanks for the info. Interesting G should do that, especially as the last incarnation of that evil bird wanted a large percentage of links to be naked urls and generic anchors.
I know there’s supposed to be specific percentages of this and that type of link to pass the algo test. But to be honest, unless that info is coming directly from the mouth of a Google employee who is actually involved in working on the algo, how accurate can it be?
Sure we can make guesstimates of what’s right, but no one really knows for sure apart from Uncle Goog… and he’s not telling
June 2, 2013 at 4:00 pm #833387AnonymousInactiveThere’s a whole lot more going on than simple percentages. I wish it were that easy.
It makes little sense to me when one of my sites thats 7 years old and is about as whitehat can be, has a great social media profile, is constantly updated with news, etc gets killed and a 5 page site with almost 0 backlinks skyrockets to a ton of top 5 keywords include several profitable #1 spots.
2.0 hit the gambling space hard and I dont know about the rest of you but I know I’m completely lost.
