The new iGaming legislation in California seems much more solid than previous attempts and is written in such a way as to help ensure its success (by making sure the state gets a whopping portion of the proceeds). Still, the online poker industry is disturbed by the language stating that playing on out-of-state sites would be illegal. Read more here.

Nathan, I would classify it more as a “desperate” measure. CA has close to a $ 20 BB deficit, and is looking to maximize its take in this endeavor. I’m sure mere threats of it being illegal to gamble outside of CA will deter a few, but how are they planning to enforce this ? With the help of ISP’s ? Internet control opens up a whole new can of worms. Even if that were to happen, the wonderful world of Proxy Servers would more than compensate for this. Also, there are many in CA, who aren’t used to reporting their taxable winnings….will many of these gamblers be ready to do so ? Personally, I don’t think so. CA would be stupid to make these harsh restrictions, as the more stringent it is, the more it is going to turn of the public at large.

Well i guess it depends to the California people to use online gambling for good and if they abused it too much then it is bad for the state. But for now, i consider it as a good for it will help the California’s economy ascend by the use of gambling revenue.
