I was listening to the Howard Stern Show this morning on my drive to the office, and KC Armstrong (one of the staff there) mentioned that he had won $330,000 at Golden Palace.

Unfortunately, KC Armstrong lost all $330,000 by continuing to play.

Interesting. Product placement advertising for casinos.

It certainly makes the First Amendment argument more compelling.

It would be absurd to consider it illegal for them to talk on the air about their experiences winning or losing money on Golden Palace.

But they sure don’t run ads anymore.

And I would guess that any money they got from Golden Palace was got under the table so to speak.

I used to advertise on the Howard Stern Show in the Orlando and LA markets then the Clear Channel attornies decided they would no longer accept ads for online gambling. They refunded the balance of my deposit and that was that for me and radio advertising.

A few very prominent radio people in Australia got into trouble over here for what is called cash for comment. DJs would mention certain things whilst speaking and they did not appear as ads to the uninformed listeners. Bit like product placement in TV and movies.

Looks like Golden Palace are at least willing to try something different from the rest. Do I agree with it? Sometimes yes and sometimes no.
