We at Golden Lounge would just like to clarify that Kamiel at no point “stole” a database or sold one on. Everyone that either knows Kamiel or how he works will appreciate that is not how he works. We just wanted to clarify this issue for all concerned.
May 12, 2009 at 9:29 am #799628AnonymousInactiveMark, I guess I understand your position in this discussion. If someone has created an account for you without even informing you then you are right to voice your opinion.
But as Dom pointed it out there is always a fine line. Companies hire affiliate managers from competition because they have existing contacts and can help in growing the portfolio. This is a universal rule for any sales or distribution focussed organisation across the world. I have been in the industry for about 7 years and most of the affiliates and clients I have worked with closely all these years are on my IM, phonebook, facebook and I have the email ids saved in my personal emails too. They love to work with me and if there is any new project I always discuss with them. I am sure everyone has a list like this and I don’t see any issues in contacting them for new business.
The second category of contacts would be all the top websites whom you would have worked with. For example if someone leaves poker room 1 and joins poker room 2, poker room 1 can’t say don’t contact poker listings or poker news or poker pages. Everyone knows these websites have poker traffic. The difference between a new affiliate manager and old one would be the old one can contact the owner directly and get the campaign set up faster. The new one would start with contacting info@….
However if someone spams you, it is a different story.@mak445 203591 wrote:
That is not acceptable that affiliates info stays with that program they worked for so they worked out of an office on a work computer using a company email address so how`s this jump to their new work computer? Without making a copy of address and taking it with them. So is it acceptable for a long standing casino Managers to contact high rollers when they start a new mangers job at a new casino? I do not care if it was gp or any other casino affiliate program what they have done is not acceptable
PS. Can’t compare the role of casino manager and affiliate manager.
I have met Kamiel at some conferences. Haven’t worked with ever, but he seemed to be a fair person. -
