Sierra Design Shuts Down Online Casino

Sierra Design has announced this week that they have pulled the plug on http://www.prizegames.com after moves by Missouri regulators to revoke its gambling license in that state. Sierra, who operated the site under the subsidiary, Arcade planet, however, remained defiant, issuing a statement declaring that the site offered ‘games of skill’ for money, and that such games are legal in Missouri.

Sierra Design Director of Marketing Shawn Yujuico told the Las Vegas Sun that the company was first informed on January 19th that the Missouri Gaming Commission would be considering the revocation of the company’s license at the agency’s next meeting on January 21st – a move that could prove a serious threat to business nationwide.

The company filed a lawsuit to block the action last month and gained a temporary restraining order, but finally succumbed to pressure this week. ‘We still believe it is a skill-based game, but we agreed to shut it down as a sign of good faith,’ Yujuico said.

Sierra Design is currently the process of being acquired by slot giant Alliance Gaming Corp. of Las Vegas, a deal that includes cash, stock and loans worth up to $191 million.

I was carrying all those games. They were just plain old games, all kinds of different ones. Solitaires and collapse and tetris and all that sort of thing, some 60+ games of all descriptions.

You could play them for free or enter tournaments.

My links now lead to this:

    Thank you for your patronage.

This is a very similair outfit to worldwinner. This is even more worrysome than anything else. These are normal games, nothing to do with casinos, and they offer tournament play.

    What’s next? Chess tournies?

This is a sad day. It’s looking more and more that in the near future anyone who wants to own or promote any type of ecommerce property is going to have to move offshore.

God forbid someone gets addicted playing Tetris Tournaments. What’s next taking down websites with Xbox tournaments? Or that women are spending too much time online versus parenting?

How can they in thier right minds logically take the time to hassle someone for this with all of the problems our world faces?

It’s keeping in line with the big picture.

Enron destroys people’s retirement plans – robs billions.
    Many Americans dying in Iraq.
Many Americans going without proper health care.
Economy recovery is jobless – tech jobs going overseas.

    What are the headlines?

    Janet Jackson’s right tit!

    Yup

Billions are spent on ” home land security ” while 12 000 000 illegals already crossed the Mexican border to take American jobs … driving wages down for everybody else … and no mention
of stopping this invasion … and now you be asked to
vote for either Bush or Kerry while BOTH are part of the same
group … either way YOU loose.
