The matter in question is not directly connected to passage of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, however, it could place many “support” venues and publishing websites in danger of losing crucial ad revenue. This relates to civil suit.
February 13, 2008 at 7:15 pm #760765vladcizsolMemberNot suprising. With the current Republican right wing lunatics leaving town with King George next year they will try to do as much damage as humanly possible while they still can.
Online Gaming, for whatever reason, is one of their favorite whipping boys so our industry will get thrashed too.
I have heard a few other large portals that specialize in a paid placement/media sales on their sites will be subpeonaed also. Be interesting to see the fallout from all this.
Dom do you have our bags packed?
February 13, 2008 at 7:23 pm #760768AnonymousInactiveNope. No bags. No subpoenas.
Whatever is going on there, I highly doubt we have anything to do with it.
I assume we will find out more soon, but my guess is that we are looking at sportsbetting again.
February 13, 2008 at 9:26 pm #760771vladcizsolMemberWe always end up getting tar and feathered by the media along with the sports betting people.
February 13, 2008 at 10:13 pm #760776AnonymousInactiveWonder if it is Gambling911 itself that has been served…..

Gambling911 says:
Gambling911.com was expected to be subpoenaed shortly.
February 13, 2008 at 11:59 pm #760782AnonymousInactiveWonderful! what’s next…
February 14, 2008 at 12:39 am #760783vladcizsolMemberI have a feeling the online gaming company (sportsbetting) turned over their advertising records to the Feds and all US based websites who accepted ads for them will likely come under scrutiny and receive subpeonas.
February 15, 2008 at 12:04 am #760876AnonymousInactiveJust been looking… cant find any more on this
Anyone else?
BradFebruary 15, 2008 at 12:48 am #760881AnonymousInactiveNope, big silence.
February 15, 2008 at 1:31 am #760884AnonymousInactiveThanks Dom
Wondering if this is real now… some other news would have picked up on this by now?Brad
February 15, 2008 at 2:04 am #760889AnonymousInactiveSaid it was a civil suit, so I suppose it’s not of industry interest.
February 15, 2008 at 10:57 am #760921AnonymousInactiveG911 tends to over hype the news.. so it may not be anything that
is going to dramatically impact the industry. I tend to ignore the
news or the drama in our industry nowadays.. it makes each day
go by alot easier.. until a new administration takes over the country.February 19, 2008 at 7:47 am #761215AnonymousInactiveJust found this.

As first reported by Gambling911.com last week, subpoenas have been sent to some advertising venues that work in conjunction with Bodog Life, and online gambling website. This has nothing to do with current legislation related to the Internet gambling industry but rather involves an ugly patent lawsuit.
