That’s not good. They know it will not pass unless they do something like this.

It always amuses me to see the NFL speak up against gambling. Guess they don’t want to admit how much of their industry relies on the ability to bet on NFL games. Maybe the horse racing industry will be next to speak up. Oh yeah, they are ok since they don’t clog up the tubes.

It will run out of time. If FIST, I mean Frist, has a rider attached and it manages to pass the Senate, it must go back to the house and go through the whole process.

Personally, I think Frist knows this. He’s just politicking for his eventual presidential bid in 2008. He has to appear strong on “morals” for his base. It’s not important that the bill pass; just that he looked like he cared. Much like how the House passed a pointless immigration bill now.

Needless to say, I’ve worked on my last Republican campaign. The party is going in the wrong direction. It’s sad that this bill is being falsely touted to unsuspecting and uneducated right wing voters as a bill of morality. It’s all about money. Goodlatte said so and if you follow the money, you see the motivation.

I’m not about to jump ship and go work on Democratic campaigns either. That party is even worse right now–and going nowhere fast.

    Market Junction,

Plain & Simple, the Dems are much better for us than the Reps. Forget about how lousy a job they’ve done the last 8 years, pure and simple, they are hanging their hats on this morality crap to save their jobs. The House will be Democratic again come November, and the Senate is a pick-em at this point.

Any way you slice it, we desperately need change, and change is a win for us on all fronts.
