Yes, there are not only programs who cheat, there are also fraudulent affiliates.
As of late, 3 different programs have confided in me that they have been defrauded for large sums by two specific affiliates, one of whom posts here and the other posts at GPWA.
That is quite a number of programs because I do not have the time to be chatting with a lot of people these days, and that is like 50% of the people I have talked to lately.
All three are not willing to come forth and point the finger at the crooked affiliates because they fear retaliation – with one of them here and one of them at GPWA they figure all affiliates will be told that these programs are scum.
I find this intolerable. We need to be able to police ourselves. It only takes one rotten egg to give all of us a bad name.
How can these programs fight back? How can they help prevent this from happening to others?
If we had some sort of anonymous complaint box, it could too easily be abused also.
I don’t really see a solution to this type of problem as long as programs won’t go public. Do you?
September 8, 2004 at 3:39 pm #654622vladcizsolMemberA while back we created a section for discussion of this topic and no one posted. I believe Simon Eaton suggested it as a dedicated forum and it sounded good at the time, but for whatever reason people don’t seem comfortable tackling this one Dom.
I was thinking of creating a PRIVATE Area for Affiliate Managers only where THEY could discuss these sort of issues and post warnings without fear of offending affiliates….
If theres a call for it I will be happy to set it up.
September 8, 2004 at 4:12 pm #654625AnonymousInactiveDom,
This is a serious issue.
I didn’t realize one of these people are posting here, but knew about the one at GPWA.As for how programs can protect themselves would have to do with the CPA they are offering affiliates. CPA deals are always risky for affiliate programs and by affiliates abusing this, it will hurt honest webmasters.
I think that is a good idea professor.
September 8, 2004 at 4:18 pm #654626AnonymousInactiveI am glad this has come up because i truly suspect that i have been taken by the same two as well (well not me but the previous owners , but i put a stop to their little caper )and i am not afraid to name them at all.
I dont see why it should stay in a Private forum at all .When people name Casinos and Affiliate programs it doesnt stay private ,the same rule of thumb should apply.

Damn im having a good month
LOL
Take Care Guys

GregSeptember 8, 2004 at 4:24 pm #654627AnonymousInactiveI think it is a serious issue also. By having one here and one at GPWA those two are scaring programs into inactivity.
There are more I hear, but they are usually short lived. These two have been around for some time and are repeating their scams. They are well known personalities on the boards.
I hate being muzzled on this but will not betray the confidences placed in me by programs.
Yes, it all revolves around CPA.
Please guys, be very cautious with CPA deals. You may feel like trusting these two because they have been around and are known entities. Just be careful. Don’t enter any agreements that can leave you high and dry and out of a lot of money. Safeguard yourselves!
September 8, 2004 at 4:27 pm #654628AnonymousInactiveGreg, if you can name them, do. I promised not to and will not. I have no problem with anyone else shouting the names from the rooftops!
I don’t see why people have to fall into the same trap over and over again. It just isn’t right.
September 8, 2004 at 4:32 pm #654630AnonymousInactiveWell I agree with Greg. As casinos get slammed in public forums why not affiliates that are cheating?
September 8, 2004 at 4:32 pm #654631AnonymousInactiveProff
Probably the only reason why i didnt post this initially was due to the fact that i number a lot of my friends within this particular niche of the market ,and out of respect for this board i would not do a thing like this without bieng invited .If you say its ok to name them on your Forum boards then i will ,
I will not tolerate cheating players out of their money, or Aff programs that dont pay,ask my Affiliates, and i certainly wont tolerate fraudsters that work within this industry.
If you allow me to name them ,i will name them
Regards
GregSeptember 8, 2004 at 4:47 pm #654632vladcizsolMemberGuys I thinks its important information to share between our certified partners BUT I don’t want to start a witch hunt and don’t feel like a PUBLIC affiliate blacklist will be helpful at this time.
Greg is a certified partner so we have one vote for a private Affiliate Managers area where I think a thread which names names would be appropriate.
I would like to wait till we hear from a few more aff managers on this. If they feel like a private area would be useful for them and if they are going to actually use it I will start work on setting it up.
I hate to come off as lazy, but to set up a private forum and then go through each aff manager and change their user rights and grant access to the private area is a good bit of work. I want to make sure it’s something they want and would use first.
If everyone likes the idea we will be happy to do it.
Now bear in mind guys a private area for aff mangers is just that, private and affiliates will NOT have access in there….
September 8, 2004 at 4:56 pm #654634AnonymousInactiveThis is the corrrect approach ,CAP for me has been the best forum that i have so far participated in and i will shortly be removing my program from all other forums.
But the fact of the matter is due to the inherent secrecy that we have in this industry we sometimes (the Casinos ) do ourselves a disservice.
Although i think that naming them is an appropriate thing to do i will bow to your decision as i do not want to get involved in any slanging matches ,so yes the Private Forum is the way to go.
And now back to Coffee
Best Regards
September 8, 2004 at 5:29 pm #654638AnonymousInactiveWell either a private forum or public forum I think is important. These 2 women need to be stopped from hurting other programs. It is just sad people can’t be honest in this business.

Well I agree with Greg. As casinos get slammed in public forums why not affiliates that are cheating?I, too, agree with this.
We all have a right to know, it affects all of us. :3eyes:
September 8, 2004 at 6:14 pm #654646AnonymousInactiveProf why set up a new room, just a thread dedicated to this should do the trick without having a new room. Easier for you and easier for me i think.

September 8, 2004 at 7:29 pm #654650AnonymousInactiveI vote for public hangings as well!
Dont put it behind closed doors … when we gripe about the programs we do so in public – why not gripe in public about colleagues breaking the rules as well?
Heck most of us know who they are already anyways. If they are truly fraudulant lets work together to put them to rest just like we would to put a known fraudulant program/casino down!
