A thread which has since been archived was started by Balagan9 to bring attention to an affiliate spamming the forums at Forbes magazine. The thread and complaint merited discussion so I am placing the original post below and asking that the thread continue. I am sorry for the disruption…

Hi,Regarding the link , I saw it and it is not a spammer but it’s a page in a
forum. We can close the account of spammers who send massive emails or
affiliate who steal contents from others affiliates.
I spoke with this affiliate manager and he told me that it is not a spammer. If you have others links that prove me that it is a spammer and that he stole
contents, I will contact again the affiliate manager.Regards
J.

If he is not violating the casinos,/search engine rules. I feel forum owner has the responsibility to decide if this is appropriate on his site. Some may think advertising on a naked woman is inappropriate others would think it is the best they have ever seen individual choice. Advertising on a forum is common,Cap has rules to govern where and what is appropriate and enforce them (Spam-A-Rama)
. In this case I believe it is up to the forum owner to set and police his property. As individuals passing judgment on how someone else operates is not our responsibility. That said voicing your opinion to the forum owner in question if you feel it affects you personally or financially should absolutely the encourage. There is a fine line between self policing/and vigilante
mcscsJune 29, 2006 at 8:16 pm #697159AnonymousInactiveIt’s message board spamming, it’s bad for the industry, and I disapprove.
June 30, 2006 at 2:22 am #697176AnonymousInactiveInteresting, this guy registers 06-19-2006 02:29PM and one hour and one minute later he has successfully whacked their forum with 21 spam posts and only 3 are complained about. Did anyone ask Forbes their opinion on those spam posts? Crap, if they don’t mind I can use the SEO rankings.
June 30, 2006 at 2:50 am #697178AnonymousInactivePerhaps this may be considered Forum spamming but only if Forbes disallows it. Otherwise I really don’t think there is anything wrong with it. greek39
July 1, 2006 at 5:04 am #697250AnonymousInactiveThere are two parties that need to approve it, firstly as Greek39 says, the forum has to allow it, however, Casino Partners also have to allow it as per their terms.
1.11 Message Boards/Forums A large amount of abusive/bonus seeking traffic is directed to our casinos via message boards/forums. Therefore we reserve the right to not accept traffic directed to us from message boards and/or forums. Any traffic coming from message boards and/or forums will be redirected to another location automatically unless exceptionally approved
If Casino Partners condones this type of promotion it sets a dangerous precedent. Laurent please see the light and tell the affiliate it is not appropriate promotion of the Casino partners properties.
