Dave, I am sorry to hear that DD can’t really help on this issue. I wonder if Rand would have anything to say on this issue. Perhaps I should browse the SEO forums today and get more detail on this issue. My logic tells me though that the way they do the scraping and linking will definately hurt smaller sites like mine. If you have a solid amount of backlinks I really do not think there is cause for concern. One thing this is doing however is educating Google to deal with this issue, so in a way I appreciate these attacks.

I have dealt with him for years. He is scum! He has the ability to bs his way all the way and he has no honest bone in his body. DO NOT believe a word he tells you! I certainly believe you are not that inocent to believe anything he tells you, but he will have a huge discussion with you seeking for common ground and a hole in your armour. He will then shoot through winning your trust by lying to you working you to think he is being straight with you. Ziv is highly educated, intelegent and an excellent business man. But he is also the mob boss of the internet, never forget that!
When I investigated the 888 stuff as you well know I found many strings to proof that he was behind it. Nothing concrete though, as there were never any direct links to be found. The same with regards to his miss-information posts here in the public forums. If you read carefully he threatens everyone but not directly! He IS behind these attacks, no doubt about that.
Think about how you should automate scraping the way he explained it and done it. Nothing is done manually. Why is the .pl domains behind it? Do yourself a favour and setup a domain at xwwwx.kom.pl. Do you think this process can be automated? Now go to freeservers.com. setup a free domain there… It cannot be automated! The .kom.pl domains are hosted in the Netherlands. Guess who has a few servers and a business partner located there? Need I say more. Ziv is not removing these pages, our wonderful Google is doing that for us. Ziv is still very much busy with his criminal activities, do not wonder about this once. He thinks he is better than you and the rest of us, fortunately he is mistaken :devil:
With every post he makes, i just see hidden threats. Am I being paranoid :rasta:

Ziv is subtle enough in his posts to avoid prosecution or law suits. He does his best to maintain a plausible veil of innocence all the while slightly tipping his cards to let you know his hidden meanings. Think of it as subliminal advertising Dave, you sense what he is saying (and threatening) without his putting anything to print specifically outlining his plans or actions.
Ziv has no intention of doing anything good. He lies even when the truth would serve him just as well. Even if he could make just as much money honestly he would CHOOSE the path where he hurts and dominates others or puts one over on the establishment, it feeds his delusion of superiority and his criminal mentality. I have seen his kind in the offline world all too often, I guess it was inevitable that a few of these snakes would infest the online world too.
Remember Eve and the Serpant every time you communicate with him. You may be seeking a resolution he is seeking to destroy you. He will hiss the things he thinks you want to hear. Thats as good as it will get with him. I hiss back when he flickers his tongue in my direction and that seems to work, he doesnt find me too interesting and he suspects he has met another serpant and this unsettles him. Truth be known his instincts are correct, my only goal when speaking with him is to seek HIS weaknesses and to figure out a way to drive him out of the garden.
Chatmaster very good post! I am not blinded by what Ziv has become, your basic everyday cyber criminal. I realize his bullshit and do not side with Him at all. My loyalties and friends are here at CAP.
I do however find Ziv interesting, why would a fellow who has contributed so much to the internet turn so ugly? Yes he does laugh because most of us don’t have the faintest clue on what is actually happening. Not sure if I posted this but here is where I know him from.

Scraping whether screen or web based scraping is illegal this I can prove. I seem to draw a lot of attention on every post I make. They are on me as soon as I post. I don’t have the option to edit my posts, so I left the thread. But I can punch huge holes in His arguements and send a clear message to their community.
Webzcas, happy birthday don’t let Ziv push you around. I do not find him threatening, I was blunt yesterday. I just came out and said it are you Ziv Dascalu? the answer was “yes”. There was no threat, just a request that I remove my post and a invitation to contact Him any time.
I am set up and wired to the hilt. I do have many resources at my disposal, but I am choosing to be a webmaster, not a the guy who is constantly chasing after dishonest people. From the beginning to end, since october 5, 2005 I have smelled this rat, Ziv, Bradon and several others. The 888 thing was a long haul project, It made no sense to me how this company could be worth over 2 billion dollars. It has costed me dearly, financially and emotionally.
I have also been contacted by referback to cough up all the redirects I have logged. Apparently CAP’s aggressive nature on scaping is turning a lot of programs to the path of honesty.
Things are going in the direction I have always hoped for. Thanks for all the hard work on setting up web based rogue pages. A great idea!
I can get the Ziv bastard, and I am sure many of you are capable as well. I am choosing to finishing my site and if there is a major problem count me in.

Greek very, very important last words. This idiot has managed to waste allot of our time. We should rather focus on our own income na websites than wasting time on all this crap! I have been so pissed with him launching his attacks I was blinded with anger. Thanks for saying something I needed to hear

Referback is an ally in this, they detest blackhat and they have been not only extremely cooperative, but they have taken initiative where other cooperative programs only react to complaints.
Casinopays is making a campaign for their ethics out of publicly responding to complaints and taking out single sites. Referback is proactively pursuing this without looking for positive publicity. A class act in my book. They have scored highly with me as a result of this. They are doing the right thing.
Ziv is being chummy with all of us, and his post is an attempt to lessen the furor.
All of this is a sign that we are squeezing him hard, our industry has stopped paying scrapers and 888 must have dropped him.
We need to be careful, he has tried to retaliate and it didn’t work and that must have lowered his value in the industry. He is not almighty. He is not a happy trooper.
Will he train his sights elsewhere or are we in for a bumpy ride? No telling, but we need to be very vigilant.
My guess is that he will continue trying to mess with us. I am sure there are still other programs paying him and all he would have to do is move the redirects to someone else.
Referback is indeed an ally they requested I start turnning in all the redirects I find, so they can take proactive measures. When I was out in Miami I was approach by many people asking me about this problem. Referback was one of them, they are desperately seeking to set things right.
I still haven’t had the time to forward the information. It was requested it be done in private.
I agree Dom Ziv is toying with us, trying to calm us down. Keep up the the pressure all of you are doing a great job. But anticipate retribution, maybe. I have a gut feeling Ziv will be moving on to other things.

I don’t think antagonizing him anymore at this time will be fruitful.
I think we should continue to turn in scrapers at google and get our industry cleaned up as best we can, and continue to ask programs to deal with new scrapers.
I don’t see the point in proving who he is, we know it.
Unless he starts a new campaign targeting us, we should let it rest and just continue to look out for ourselves, IMO.
Right at this point in time, we win.
I hope that won’t change.
