That would be a very short sighted approach.
Again, this is the problem:
Granting permission for rake back schemes encourages theft and results in affiliates losing the players they rightfully earned. It is sparking a war that can only end with decent affiliates losing their players unless they settle for less and less pay at each round.
Take some time out and try to take a new look at this – one that includes the position of affiliates.
Paying back money on losses from a casino to players has nothing to do with encouraging affiliates to steal from other affiliates or forcing them to accept a lot less pay than is offered by your program. There is no way a few affiliates can do this and others can survive without.
It cuts the pay from your program to affiliates in half. Who doesn’t want to accept that can just forget about making money from you. If people do accept it and join rake back, others will go even lower. It does not affect you at all, but affiliates will lose their income.
Some other programs have taken a stance and will look out for the welfare of their affiliates, such as Party Poker and Paradise Poker. I will be inclined to go with them.

We have a number of successful poker affiliates whom do not offer rake back (and don’t want to), because they can make more, by not giving a percentage of their money back to players.
In addition, we did not force any affiliate to do this or will we in the future. This is a decision made by the affiliate.

April 18, 2005 at 8:17 pm #664345AnonymousInactivePoker is in it’s infancy, and rake back is even newer.
If rake back catches on, poker will eventually have to do without affiliates since they will underbid each other until there is no profit left.
That is the nature of competition, and you are pitching affiliates against each other with this scheme.
I am bowing out of this conversation – I can see it is quite useless.
April 20, 2005 at 2:40 pm #664449AnonymousInactiveHi Dominique,
In response to your statement in the Income Access thread…
Right now most programs do not allow rake backs. The one program that openly pushes them is sun poker, and I have yet to hear from a non rakeback affiliate who makes money with them. Sun is for rakeback affiliates only, if you don’t want to take a cut in your pay there is no point in advertising them. The rakeback affiliates get the signups.
To reiterate from my previous posts, Sunpoker.com does not push rakeback. A few affiliates had asked if we could accommodate this a few months back and we did for them. This was not something Sunpoker implemented as a strategy, but something several affiliates had requested as a strategy for them to acquire and retain customers. The only reason this was brought to the forefront, was because some one at CAP had asked us directly. We do not post on our site or send out newsletters pushing rakeback.
I have yet to hear from a non rakeback affiliate who makes money with them
Again, we have a number of non-rakeback affiliates whom promote Sunpoker.com and do VERY well. There are over 6,000 affiliates in our network and of the percentage that are active, about 3% are rakeback affiliates.
Sun is for rakeback affiliates only
This is a completely false statement. We have never indicated or strive to become a rakeback only affiliate program. Again, we have around 3% of all active poker affiliates currently doing a rakeback with Sunpoker.com.
If there are any other questions or comments I can address or answer for anyone, please let me know.
Thanks and have a great day.
April 20, 2005 at 3:10 pm #664455AnonymousInactiveI can only state what I know.
I have yet to hear from a non rakeback affiliate who makes money with them.
There may be some, but I haven’t heard from them.
Sunpoker.com does not push rakeback.
I have heard from affiliates who say you offered it to them, they did not ask.
This is not a constructive thread, it is confrontational only. It does not seem to be headed for any resolution. For that reason, I will not post in this thread anymore.
You are always welcome to contact me if you want to talk about it.
April 20, 2005 at 7:56 pm #664466AnonymousInactiveTo conclude the thread in regards to rake back.
Sunpoker.com has allowed several affiliates whom wanted to offer rake back, the ability to do so. This is a completely new structure of promotions currently offered to affiliates and something Sunpoker will reevaluate in the best interests of the affiliate community as a whole. We thank you for your comments and thoughts at this time.
If you have any other concerns or comments that were not mentioned here, please feel free to personally contact our staff at any time. :colgate:

Thank you, Mark!
I am glad you are giving the matter some additional thought.
