The town of Dixville Notch, New Hampshire, with a population of around 75 people and only 21 registered voters, has picked Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) to be the next president of the United States. Obama defeated Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) by a margin of 15 votes to 6.

Dixville Notch, which opens its polls for voting at midnight Eastern time on Monday evening, has been the first town to tally its ballots in the country for decades.

They’ve voted republican in every election since Humphrey in 1968.

This is great, hopefully the first signs of a blowout.

Also reported on ABC – more African American’s have voted in NC in early voting than in the entire 2004 election!

not bad but rather small sample lol. I hope the turnout of 21 out of 75 is not representative of the rest of the country. That’s pretty pathetic.

The turnout was 100%, they can’t count the votes until 100% of registered voters voted, or when the polls are scheduled to close. That’s my understanding

In fact it’s against NH law to count and announce vote before the polls close, but they seem to have “grandfathered” this town and let them do it.
