The GPWA is proud to announce it will be holding its first major event at the Mohegan Sun Hotel and Casino Resort in Connecticut, US, from Monday, October 27, 2003, to Thursday, October 30, 2003. The primary goal of our first Retreat is networking and establishing face-to-face, personal relationships with the casino affiliate managers and representatives that we work with so much via email, phone and message boards.
Believing we already work enough, the focus of our Retreat will be relaxation and FUN! Featuring an informally structured itinerary so as to allow plenty of time for personal meetings and networking, the event will include 2 hour daily buffet brunches, a Poker Tournament, a dance/karaoke party, and a final banquet among the scheduled activities.
Tuesday will feature an afternoon of exhibits from 3rd party suppliers to affiliates (to be determined) such as Pay Per Click Search Engines, Language Translation Services, Marketing Experts, Search Engine Optimization Specialists, Graphics Designers, and so forth. Suggestions are currently being taken from members and other interested parties
The Retreat will be free for GPWA members, including rooms and most meals, ensuring high affiliate attendance; their only cost to attend will be transportation and out of pocket expenses. To date we have 25 members definitely coming, with another 25 “likely”, and we expect these numbers to increase throughout the next few months.
If you would be interested in sponsoring our Retreat either as a casino or 3rd party supplier, please send an email to [email protected]. You can see the Mohegan Sun website at http://www.MoheganSun.com.
Added – I should clarify this, sorry. Only sponsoring casinos/suppliers will be invited to attend.

July 15, 2003 at 12:55 pm #639371vladcizsolMemberGuys who is planning to attend the event?
I am interested to hear from Casinos as well. I think this has great potential for the fall and the venue (Mohegan Sun) is a fantastic resort.

July 23, 2003 at 12:32 pm #639440AnonymousInactiveThere is always Vegas in September. I will surely be there, and so will many webmasters. We would love to have you
There are also rumors of an alterate association forming, so stay tuned. (No, I’m not doing that).
August 1, 2003 at 12:51 pm #639533AnonymousInactiveNew England in October sounds great. I am looking forward to meeting more GPWA members from around the US and abroad.
As far as Vegas in Sept., I may go to hang with other GPWA members and Affiliate Program Mgrs. but will not attend CAC2003.
August 21, 2003 at 5:08 pm #639650AnonymousInactiveYes, Gator will be in Vegas.
I guess since I am not in the GPWA anymore, nobody is doing anything about that problem anymore.
I am certainly not able to do this on my own.
The number of scumming casinos is increasing at an alarming rate.
This is mostly keeping medium and small portals from ever crossing the line to reaching a volume that will support them.
The situation is getting to where the casinos who do not scum have a distinct disadvantage.
With nobody policing that situation and talking new users out of it, what will become of this industry?
August 21, 2003 at 5:27 pm #639651vladcizsolMemberDominique you can still keep us up to date about who is and isn’t using scumware. There is no reason you cannot continue to lead the charge against this insidious plague on our industry.
CAP is firmly against scumware and as far as I know GPWA is too. Just because you are no longer a member of one association or another shouldnt stop you. You will STILL have everyones support in this battle.
August 21, 2003 at 7:28 pm #639657AnonymousInactiveIn order to do anything that involves any group of people one has to be able to communicate with them.
That is not possible in this situation.
August 21, 2003 at 8:29 pm #639660vladcizsolMemberWhat group?
Webmasters? You can and do commuincate with them here and at other online forums. GPWA is an association, but its certainly not the only avenue of communication in this industry, is it?
August 21, 2003 at 9:13 pm #639662AnonymousInactiveThis is of course true.
But I am not a lone ranger, and I am tired of volunteering all my time.
I don’t think I should use your wonderful board to vent my frustrations though.
I am afraid that I have never had enough support to fight this the way it could have succeded, and I have even less support now.
It is often like that in life – if you cannot present a unified front, the enemy wins.
August 22, 2003 at 11:51 am #639668vladcizsolMemberI am very sorry to hear that. You did make some nice progress on this issue in the past and I hate to see you throw in the towel.
I think you had a lot more support from the silent majority then you realized, but you have to prioritize how you spend time so I can understand your position.
August 22, 2003 at 2:47 pm #639670AnonymousInactiveI was quite successfull in keeping them from signing new clients.
I was also successful in preventing them from addressing most affiliates and managers in Montreal.
But the boycott, which could have settled the matter in short order if affiliates had joined in it, had much less impact than it could have. This is due to the bigger portals refusing to switch to the scumfree casinos. The smaller portals did all the work and absorbed all possible losses. This made me very unhappy.
Again, if one can’t present a united front, the enemy wins.
