Hey , been holding off for article writing so done my first one lol submitted to ezine and ect
so here it is thoughts ,
A good Texas Hold’em Poker strategy is to work out whether you are going to be betting high first, or sitting back and taking your time.
If your going to bet high first up and decided that your going to try and wipe out a few players first and lift your odds of winning the table then obviously you have to work out if your first cards are good enough odds to take the biggest chance in poker, but also can be the quickest and safest position to be in if you can win at the start – thats if you can.
So what are good cards, an Ace and a Queen? Maybe yes, but a 7 and a 2 can be if you think about it just as good at the very start of play if you end up recieving two 77’s on the first deal out.
So is that the key? Not really if you really want to work out the odds this is if your planning to bet big early and go the road even if you have two 7’s the logical approach would be, to bet just a medium big bet to start with. Not to small that its not worth it, not to big that you just seem stupid to the house of players (because you also don’t want them to just fold) especially if you ended up with two queens on the first hand, even with two queens. And this is the trying to knock them out quick at the start and sit pretty strategy, even if you have two queens or a 7 and 2 the logical approach is to Bet just under not crazy big but not a medium bet, and then hope your lucky stars they dont all fold then hope your lucky stars again that you get a good hand.If you get a good hand and you win, you just got plenty of chips (some may have folded cause you made a decent bet) but you will always most of the time get the punter that wants to take you on these are the ones you suck in by not making a huge bet but making the bet big enough that he thinks he can risk, and the bet you can risk and can regain with with only a half big decent bet.
So you got the win got the respect of the table now what do you do, you don’t hold off now you go just a smigen higher of another good bed this is now the stage that you do want to have half decent cards here 2 7’s wont cut it at this stage you would want a Q, in your hand but it is okay to have a 7 or low card in your hand as a back up aswell,
hope for at least a bit of a hit from the deal,This is where you need to read the players this is the second deal you won the first one so there all watching you, this guy aint stuffing around. You can do a few checks on the second round, but make sure you dont do two many keep your confidence up, and show your confidence to the table pychc em out okay a few checks later you got that queen and a 7 you won the first round you have chips to spare do a slightly big bet to make it worth your while just under a medium bet of your chips and sit back and see.
Now the second round is so important because this is where they all no where they stand and want your lead so they will prob up your bet, so then you up it slightly again
call on not to far over your first bet if you do, if they go radically over your bet like all in.THis is important this part now you need to look how many players are involved if theres enough envolved in this swing around and this guys gone all in ( your basically like a cricket bowler) you done your job hopefully
got the next victim. Fold and hope that someone else beats him with out you risking any more chips and still in the lead even if its stlightly your still in the lead he’s just got knocked out.
and now you have brought he odds of the players down.This is the general way you play it from then on, you aim to win or aim to knock out a player aim for players to go all in if plenty in the stake
and try and judge the players around you if they are just as eager to get chips and if they will fold on the better you just tried to bowl out and get caught
by another player (almost like cricket)the third 4th rounds , by this time a few players maybe 2 or 3 people may have been knocked out because of the big pots,
which is good but then what this also creates is probably 1 or two left competition in your high pot chip range but your more than likely
still in front or second in top pots from your big win at the start.At this point, 3rd or 4th round Now you are changing your game plan again now instead of knocking out with pots
Now is the final time to really concitrate on your card hands your looking for two aces (obviously a great thing) but these
are things you are going to do bets based on strategy and knowing who jumps in who sits back find a medium bet to start knocking out your competition.So combination of decent bets with very good card odds, your looking for pairs high or low checking looking to see you get a good hand to do a good bet to take
your other high chippers still in the game.Still don’t bet to high but enough to start chipping them away and if you wait you will find they might get impatient go all in cause everyones getting a bit worn out but yoru still sharp
chip them away with small and big bets even.the most important thing is good cards as its not knock out its chip away now. The other really small chippers that might be left 1 person for instance
will probably lift the pot at one point and give up
then hope you have good cards at this section cause you can bet your competition will want to take out them and take easy chips at the same time like a pyramid falling.This is when you jump on there enjoying the fact they knocked someone out and you knock out your first competition with a great hand!
The last round is the longest and takes forever because of the way the game has panned out and it all started with you bringing big pots early and in a way giving your competition chips so that you allow them to knock out the compeition int the earlier rounds
mean this way of playing you are more than likely going to have a battle at the end that will go for long time. Here we don’t change the gameplay. Your already going to get 1st or second dont get gready nothing wrong with second place but we do want to win so its a matter of chipping him away checks because we are only playing for good cards so this will wear him down , nobody likes sitting second for too long hopefully he’s in second at this point.
If he’s in second and you been chipping away for a while he more than likely will start throwing out medium bets, but don’t doubt that he’s bluffing he’s more than likely not bluffing.But if he does a half decent bet you got a queen in yoru hand and on the table time to time you go the bets and hopefully the run falls your way and then increase it
and drop his chips down with a decent chunk (with good hands)If you can do this and your more than 3 times bigger than himn at this point he’s probably given up but he doesn’t want to give it that easy he’ll be annoying and check forever just to annoy you and wear you out for a while dont give in keep checking
even though you have the power and miles ahead there is still a chance if you give him only 2 parts back or 1.5 parts back to you he’s back in the game.Which will give you a headache and he has the fighting edge, its a mind game.
So keep checking till you get a really good hand and call some of his big bets if you do
till you wear him down so much your both tired he gives up all over.
