Hi Everybody,
Thx for those putting in a good word / sharing positive experiences about us. As for the inflated download issue re: started downloads / finished downloads = that is correct. That is, it counts started downloads – so yes one person who keeps loosing their connection and coming back would count for many ‘downloads’.
We have started implementing some new concepts which should handle a lot of the concerns voiced in this thread. I apologize for being vauge, however as we get closer to putting this into production I will post more. Just know that your concerns are being heard and we are taking the necessary steps to accomodate.
Timeframe: Early Q1 2006.
November 29, 2005 at 12:42 am #677420AnonymousInactiveRyan you seem to have a huge problem with your tracking program for affilates. I have set in two emails both were responded to, which I appreciate. I have had aprox 100 downloads but no joins. I quess the problem is not fixed after a month or longer. Ask yourself this what would you do? sit tight and hope for the best? or stop promoting? greek39
November 29, 2005 at 1:33 am #677422AnonymousInactiveI can understand why people would have concerns with the tracking, but Casino Rewards is a top notch program. The player retention there is excellent.
I try not to focus on stats, instead I focus on the bottom line. Casino Rewards is a 5 figure earner this month and other months. I personally have more luck with captain cook’s and casino kingdom, so I would try pushing those properties.
If Ryan says this stats issue is being investigated with the intention of being resolved as best as humanely possible, I believe him.
November 29, 2005 at 1:47 am #677423AnonymousInactiveHi Antoine/All,
Thanks for the kind words – another example of an affiliate showing growth, rention and big $$$ with us. All very good, right? but the issue remains outstanding and we are still investigating/testing – there are a lot of variables to consider and we need to run the tests over several weeks to get a proper sample. I want this sorted as badly as the rest of us, but keep in mind this issue is about inflated clicks and download numbers NOT about missing credit.
November 29, 2005 at 1:57 am #677424AnonymousInactiveI’m right there with you, Antoine – I’ve been a big fan of CR since I started promoting them. I sorta feel bad that I haven’t been giving them even better placement, because they really are a top flight program.

No hard feelings intended Ryan, you do run one of the better affiliate programs. But 100 downloads no joins because you are investigating something? So I am left with speculation? These sorts of problems I believe all webmasters have nightmares about, this is why I decided to respond.
So the problem with the stats is not fixed yet? greek39
November 29, 2005 at 1:58 am #677426AnonymousInactiveGood point about the cached pages in the search engines, too, Dom. The same thought occurred to me not long ago with a program I wasn’t promoting but was still seeing clickthrough’s on.
November 29, 2005 at 2:25 am #677434AnonymousInactiveHi All,
The issue is that SE bots/spiders are crawling affiliate sites, following the affiliate link to the casino (counts as a click) then because we do query string tracking the affiliate id is passed to the download page and the bot crawls that too showing a started download. Hence affiliates seeing 100 downloads and no registrations/players.
If you test with a human being you will see that the tracking works fine and that you are getting full credit as you should.
ooooo, light blub goes on…
I don’t know this didn’t why occur to me before … add
rel=”nofollow”
as an attribute to the anchor tag of your given linking code… so that would be something like:
[a href=”http://www.cr_site.com/referrral.asp?aff_id=affXXXX” rel=”nofollow”]anchor text[/a]
That should actually tell google, yahoo!, msn to NOT follow the link (was initially supported to stop blog spammers or other public comment style pages). Keep in mind this wont’ stop the link from working or affect you sending traffic from HUMANS … just bots (bots that obey, that is. The big 3 do).
Try this out and see if it does the trick … please post your results here.
Obviously keep a note on the day you started linking this way so we can compare… thanks guys!
November 29, 2005 at 11:44 pm #677560AnonymousInactiveHi Ryan,
Changed ALL my links today on both sites, but I won’t have anything to report about results until next month. This month my stats are full of downloads
That was a big job. I hope it gets results – or else :shooter:

November 30, 2005 at 12:48 am #677565AnonymousInactiveI don’t care if my downloads are fake, as long as the players are real!

Hi ntaus/All,
Looking forward to seeing the results!
Was anybody else willing to make the changes? What’s the affiliate ‘mass search and replace’ tool of choice these days?
I always write a perl script to recursively go through my document root and search and replace via regex … but textpad or ultra edit would accomplish the same thing, albeit a bit more manual/laborious to accomplish.
November 30, 2005 at 1:13 am #677574AnonymousInactiveI just came across this thread so I thought I would add my 2¢. I have had concerns with CR for a few months now. Lots of DL’s but absolutely no activity. In fact the last player went away a winner and I haven’t seen any activity since-that was July, about the same time the DL’s spiked.
I have never seen this before (long drought with no players) and since I had some old CC players I became very concerned. A couple weeks ago I decided to change the majority of my CR links to casinos that were converting better.
Now I see this thread and see I am not alone.
Should I be emailing players?
November 30, 2005 at 1:34 am #677576AnonymousInactiveI’m not slamming Ryan but I do think there are major problems with CR reporting and I don’t think it’s bots or gremlins or elves. Massive downloads do not occur on any of my other stats. When many affiliates sees 100 downloads and no registrations this sets off flags and becomes a major concern which needs to be addressed. I also don’t think the actions taken should be on the affiliate end. Rational thought dictates that this problem is with CR programming.
CR needs to identify the potential problems, confirming or eliminating each problem (including player tracking) and then correct where necessary. Over the next 30 days, will CR be working on this or will they wait for 30 days to see if the ‘nofollow’ link works? If it doesn’t, what then? You’ve lost 30 days that you could have been looking into the problem. I don’t believe bots are the problem, but I could be wrong. If so perhaps CR should find out just what the attraction is that bots seem to have exclusively for CR downloads.

November 30, 2005 at 2:04 am #677578AnonymousInactiveMyself I see a lot of downloads and registrations. The activity is my concern.
Downloads to registrations
Registrations to new joins ( this is low )
and then over all profitsCR use to be a ok performer for me, but not in the 8 months it has not been doing well. Also concerned with lack of growth.
I personally never pushed CC much, so not sure if it would be better.
November 30, 2005 at 2:43 am #677581AnonymousInactiveI agree with your results krystal, I have never seen very good conversion or retention with rewards. Far far below any other MGS I have promoted; I guess the dam was never opened.
Quote:If you test with a human being you will see that the tracking works fine and that you are getting full credit as you should.I don’t recall where it was, but I remember not that long ago hearing a story about just that; testing with real players and the results were not very good. If I recall correctly about 60% of the players registered in the stats and of those none registered correctly with regards to their actual wagering amounts.
I also agree with you Siouxzee their tracking issue has nothing to do with bots thats just a handy excuse! As always you should use your own judgement though if they make you money push em’ if they dont can em’!
