Good morning all,
Just a quick question I have for a new site I’m building. How important is a “matching” domain name to the Title of a site? What weight do the spiders with say, Google place on say Title: “Online Casinos” with a domain of onlinecasinos.com to say “Online Casinos” with bobssite.com? What about the length(number of letters) of the Domain Name? Does it really make a big differance in ranking?I have several domain choices, just wondering if anyone has tested this. Thanks for your input

I moved your thread to the domain section. It should be getting more attention here in the long run – the general discussion forum is too busy and posts disappear from sight much faster.
Good luck with your site!

You should be able to, but since the software switch several people have complained about problems subscribing to threads.
Hopefully we’ll get it fixed soon.

I think it helps to have a domain name that suggests this is actually what your site is about.
What’s wrong with Bobs-Online-Casinos?

Nah, I don’t moving the thread here hurt at all – this thread has had over 100 views already.
Having key words in your domain name does help with the serps, but it sure isn’t everything. Someone good at SEO can take any domain name and push it high for any phrase they like.
December 22, 2004 at 2:44 pm #659108AnonymousInactiveThanks, Janet. It is a well read thread.
Since most regular readers are also the posters, threads in the appropriate forums get a better read rate anyway. Most people use the “new posts” function, and any and all new posts will show, regardless of forum.
If this post was in the general discussion it would long have walked off the page…
I think it is always good to have a descriptive domain, and it helps if it contains the main keywords. But, again as Janet said, a person who excels in SEO can take any name and make that domain do well in the SERPS.

Oh yeah, one more thing what about the length of the domain?Happy Holidays to all  :Partier: :xmas: :santa2:
