I am curious if anyone has ever stumbled across a rational explanation as to why MSN seemingly HATES new content or changes to a website? (Maybe at SEO SHat or Webmaster World?)
I see the same thing consistently, whenever I update my sites they are almost immediately removed from MSN Search. The ones that I havent updated in ages are there, but if I update them BOOM they vanish!
Obviously this algorythem encourages very old content and seems to fly in the face of common sense.
Any ideas?
December 22, 2006 at 3:09 pm #719714AnonymousInactiveI’ve noticed the same. The pages do come back eventually. Maybe they feel they have to reevaluate everything new? Just guessing here.
MSN and google seem to be on opposite sides of the fence on this one…
December 22, 2006 at 3:19 pm #719715biggygMemberI had a website at #1 forever in MSN on november 8th i started updating it and content has increased probably 50% .Msn dumped it to 100+ the minute i changed it and after 7 weeks finally got back in top 10.I did a SEO experiment on MSN and the website that i am not changing has better serps now.I think MSN likes the websites that will sit and rot and dont like change lol
December 22, 2006 at 3:31 pm #719716AnonymousInactiveI think your right Dominique. When updating your site MSN seems “reevaluate”. This has happened to me often where my serps drop or entire pages get removed. Eventually things return to normal for the better or worse. Google on the other hand operates very different from all other SE’s.
In the long run MSN loves new content if changed on the bottom portion of your site. This has been mine experience.

December 22, 2006 at 4:00 pm #719719AnonymousInactiveMy experience has been exactly the opposite. Every time I create new content, MSN indexes it and it is live a day or two later in the SERPS.
December 22, 2006 at 4:27 pm #719725biggygMemberBeing Live and being where you started before you did update is two different things lol.
December 22, 2006 at 4:29 pm #719726AnonymousInactiveYeah… I think I know that by now.
In BOTH cases, my pages are always at the top when I update OR create a new page.
I guess I’ll have to be a bit more precise / clear next time.
December 22, 2006 at 9:10 pm #719754vladcizsolMemberKW thats exactly the opposite of what I see at ALL of my sites. MSN hates new content or changes at least when it comes to my sites.
December 22, 2006 at 9:28 pm #719756AnonymousInactiveI wonder what the difference is? I have blogs on most of my sites… so any page I have updated lately is through a blog interface. Maybe that makes the difference here.
I’ll have to try with a static page and see if I get the results you are seeing.
December 22, 2006 at 9:28 pm #719757AnonymousInactiveWe see MSN actually LIKING new content …
But perhaps the keywords we’re targeting are not as competitive?
:huh2:December 22, 2006 at 10:54 pm #719763AnonymousInactiveBefore the Nov. update, MSN used to like pages that updated frequently, now they just like new websites. Too bad they got this two all screwed up, I hope the next update will be better…
December 23, 2006 at 8:54 am #719797NetPalMemberI think the same things it is happened to me but I am not secure to 100 % because I don’t have the statistics in my website.
My website have had “”Reach per million users”” 11 million and now ? 000000
Now my website onlinexcasinos.com with word “online casinos” is 18th.
In the 18th position means a visitator every 2 weeks.
