I cannot tell you how many times i have tried to get any of my sites accepted by dmoz. I have never ever even recieved a response from them and get the impression no one is even looking at the submissions.
If anybody out here has had success I would be willing to pay a fee to get my new site accepted, just PM me.

Hope that helps.

Offering a public bribe, not a very good idea minimally because it just blacklists any site you might be associated with, and it almost certainly would never work anyway.
February 1, 2005 at 8:21 pm #660912AnonymousInactiveClassics you mis-interpreted my request, I was looking to see if someone who has success in doing the submission could provide it as a service, just like someone who is successful in SEO.
There must be some trick that I am missing as I have read and followed all the rules over the years and still have not found success.
I re-read my post and it does not even hint at a bribe, you can be rather cynical.

I guess DMOZ has plenty of gambling portals in it’s lists, so maybe your sites will never be good enough to please the editors..
February 1, 2005 at 8:49 pm #660916AnonymousInactiveYes Joel I agree I have just spent some time going thru that forum and if you look at the gaming related URL’s pending it shows that it has been a very long time for any new ones to be added.
I guess there is only so much one can say about it, just goes to show you it helps to get in on the ground floor!

February 1, 2005 at 9:19 pm #660926AnonymousInactiveIt is quite clear that Islandmaan wanted to hire a specialist to submit for him and not to bribe an editor.
February 1, 2005 at 9:24 pm #660927AnonymousInactiveI’d like to point out that I do NOT edit any gambling categories. (And I don’t have any immediate plans to either.)
February 1, 2005 at 10:18 pm #660934AnonymousInactiveThere is no such thing as a “specialist” to submit. “I would be willing to pay a fee to get my new site accepted” does not say “I’d pay somebody to fill out the form for me”. It’s talking about being accepted, and that means inappropriate payment, period.
“There must be some trick that I am missing”
Two things, build sites with quality, original content. I only looked at your blackjack site, and it has copied content so something like that won’t be accepted. Second, dmoz functions by volunteers. Right now there are hardly any gambling editors so hardly anything is done. If you don’t like that, do something about it.
It’s fine if a person doesn’t care, but if you do, what dmoz needs is 100 honest, good, sane gambling editors.
Btw, I’m not an editor. There are at least two members here who are though, although as Randy points out he doesn’t edit in gambling categories.
February 2, 2005 at 5:04 am #660958AnonymousInactiveThe gambling Site I have listed, I do not remember requesting.
February 2, 2005 at 6:03 am #660960AnonymousInactiveSeriously it’s not worth the effort. I tried for years to have sites listed… I eventually got one listed, and it was a site I didn’t even submit. I get maybe 10 hits a year from that listing.
You are wasting your time, as search engines apply less and less weight to the listings as time goes on.
I also dont see how what you said can be taken as a bribe. You said you would be willing to pay to get in. I would be willing to pay for a lot of things, but that does not mean i intend to bribe. Classics you really need to relax sometimes.
February 2, 2005 at 6:51 am #660961AnonymousInactiveHe wasn’t saying he’d pay to land on the moon.
The point is his statement is slitting his own throat, that’s all.
Only editors can accept sites.
Editors cannot accept payment.
Payments to editors are called bribes. But that’s a tangent really. The point should be to make a site that qualifies under the guidelines. Then if you want literate help, paypal somebody like Randy $100 to write a good description for you. Then submit it. There isn’t anything else “to it” besides having a qualifying domain, and submitting it with an accurate title and description that conforms with the guidelines…
Some Blackjack Site
Card counting strategy articles and book reviews. That’s it. The only other thing to do is volunteer. The way for to get work done that you want to see done is to do it, not wait for somebody else to do it.
February 2, 2005 at 7:08 am #660962AnonymousInactiveI took it to mean that he would be willing to pay for someone who has experience submitting websites, or possibly a company that has an existing relationship with Dmoz.
