August 13, 2003 at 11:26 pm #639605AnonymousInactivethis guy is selling players info mainly credit card info to anyone online. i can’t believe it.
with identity theft rising this guy is making it easy.
i know i’ll just rush out and sign up at casinos now!!
getting players to sign up is hard enough.
personally i think you should ban him & delete his post professor but thats just my opinion.
i would be interested in hearing what other peoples opinion is on the subject.
August 13, 2003 at 11:46 pm #639606AnonymousInactiveHe has been selling the same over at wol, and yes, I think he should be locked out also.
And he is selling all these data bases once? How many does he have? He sold some at wol already.
August 14, 2003 at 12:57 am #639607vladcizsolMemberDoes the database contain confidential Info?
I moved this post to Spamarama because of its nature. In this area and Free For All I try to maintain a hands off policy unless the post is particularly in poor taste. The fact is there are a lot of these “database” lists sold online I just hope they DONT contain real confidential information.
August 14, 2003 at 12:58 am #639608AnonymousInactiveThis sounds like a privacy violation to me…
August 14, 2003 at 1:12 am #639612vladcizsolMemberIf the database contains credit card data then it IS illegal and a serious breach of security.
If its merely a client list, even if it contains name, address, phone, email, demographics and even game preference or spending habits then its not. While we as consumers don’t appreciate retailers or merchants sharing or selling this type of data it’s a very common practice.
When you sign up for anything or make a purchase online (or offline) the prudent thing to do is ask for and inspect the merchants privacy policy. If they don’t have one or duck the issue you can assume they can and will sell or swap your data with other merchants. At that point its your perogative to leave without completing a purchase or providing info you dont want shared.
NEVER assume that a privacy policy is in place or that you are covered under some sort of blanket “law”.
August 14, 2003 at 12:30 pm #639614AnonymousInactivethis is part of what he posted on WOL:
“Clarification: It’s not a mailing list, it’s a database that includes everything starting from user login, email, credit card information, and ending gaming logs.
August 14, 2003 at 12:54 pm #639615AnonymousInactiveCredit card information and gaming logs?
This does bother me quite a bit.
August 14, 2003 at 4:05 pm #639619AnonymousInactiveHmmmm
That sounds very dangerous….both for the people on the list (privacy wise) and for the person selling the list. (some people would feel their personal and financial safety could be at risk and would want that stopped at “ALL” costs!)
I have to agree with Casinowebmaster at this point….and I think I would not allow the post either…
I know you don’t like to censor anyone…but in the interest of protecting the consumer….maybe this is a case where you want to at least consider it…
Just another opinion…

Universal4August 14, 2003 at 4:17 pm #639620vladcizsolMemberI just read the WOL thread and I am shocked. I assumed this was a mailing/client list, but he actually comes out and says it includes credit card data. This IS unacceptable and I hope that whoever is on the lists takes legal or physical action against the seller AND the agent.
August 14, 2003 at 4:44 pm #639622AnonymousInactiveI hope you weren’t on the list for your safety.
