    Hi gang,

I was just curious what yall think on these matters

    1. How much do you trust cookies? Do you think you are getting 100% credit for all referrals?

    2. How much do you trust the affiliate program. Assume for a second that all cookies are tracked 100% – do you belive the affiliate program gives you 100% credit for all referred play?

    3. Do you validate your affiliate results? How?

    4. What do you think are the worst cookie monsters?
    4.1 scumware
4.2 anti-virus/anti-spam filters whether by software or ISPs
4.3 inadequate tracking by affiliate program

    thanks.

THere are lots of ways cookies can “crumble” (groan)

    Users can turn them off.
Users can be using non-IE browsers that some casinos do not support.
Cookies can be cleaned on a daily basis (by user software).

    TRACKING TESTS
as for tracking – I track each click out of my site by destination – and compare them to the casino clicks count.

Most of the sites that I use validate to a 95%-99% level (otherwise I would not use them) and that missing percentage could be reasonably assigned to internet issues.

    – perhaps a DNS error or page not appearing
    – or user clicking stop/back button (didn’t want to go there)
    – or user closing window

I don’t think I would ever expect to tally past 95-99% of clicks.

In the past there have been a few programs admitting that tracking is not and cannot ever be perfect.

Gooner’s one percent sounds above average to me – maybe sports places do better, or Gooner successfully eliminated programs with less accuracy.

My own estimate is 10 to 15% lost, and this is just based on talks with industry people.

In addition to Gooner’s explanation, there are also players who will delete the “tail” on any URL when possible, thinking it must be something sinister.

Also, look at the bottom pof your browser. IE has a little “eye” there, which appears with a “blocked” sign. You can click on it and see which cookies have been blocked on that page. This happens even with medium security settings to third party cookies. Don’t know about other browsers, but the majority of surfers does use IE.

I run click tracking softward on my sites, and have for many years…. it’s pretty normal to run an 8-10% difference….

Lots of web factors that easily contribute to that 10% number, as gooner pointed out.

    Hi,

I don’t know about cookies but as for your question as to how much a sponsor can be trusted to give you credit on all income earned from your efforts … I can positively say to you that it is money well-spent to send players thru and then upon confirming they have shown up as tracked to your accounts … to send them thru again …. and later again to see if you’re getting credit for deposits.

Many times i have caught programs not showing either any or only part of the money the player has deposited and lost to the program.

Since I don’t have any positive proof of such situations about any current programs I won’t throw any stones at this time mostly because I’m too tired to remember where I’ve got such proof tucked away … if I even still have it all …. this because lets face it … the only thing I need to prove is to myself they’re not worth listing … so I have little reason to pursue it further although at the time when I discovered the situation I did post about it … and in fact many times it was myself who was depositing thru another aff’s links when this sort of nastiness came to light so the disclosure came naturally thru simple posts stating there was a problem …

but yes it does happen and yes I personally am of the mind that when one deposit shows up and the next doesn’t. .. .or only part of an amount shows up … that it is intential theft by the program in question and not some sort of glitch. But that’s my opinion and I’m sure there were times when it really was a glitch but I’m also just as sure there were times (likely moreso) when it was simply as it looked. Theft.

Given time under your belt and a sincere effort towards it … you can establish relationships with players … preferably of sizeable stature … where you can by simple correspondence have enough tangents to be able to spot a cheating sponsor without too much more involved.

anyway … its money well spent to check. of that I’m certain and I think you’re actually losing much more by not spending a little to find out where you stand with sponsors. You still likely won’t catch everything but it only takes once …

ps. if you do catch somebody and don’t make it public, please remember I gave this advice and PM me. This is the sort of info that is very important. At least to me. :)

    Oh ya, btw.

Its also my opinion that nearly all RTGs are set up to cheat affs because of their damn coupons and bonus crap they pull which basically to me seems to be that any money you earn rightfully is then passed back to the player thru these methods so they can go back thru the casino and have to meet outrageous playthru requirements that would take incredible luck to ever meet the requirements but in the process it essentially hands back to the casino 2/3 to 3/4 of your earnings since they will then turn around and tell you that you’ve earned only 25% of the income.

that might not be a correct equation because like i said I’m tired and frankly will leave it at this. Look at the amount deposited. Look at the amount you earned at the end of the month after the BS is laid on you … and it ain’t pretty.

    Exactly. Or nearly so.
Sites that dont track properly are dropped – unless they convert superbly.

As you’ve said before one of the main affiliate rules is that this business IS all about bottom line – and not surprisingly – those programs with the best bottom line are those programs that track well.

yeah i do checks on almost every program i promote, at some point i will open up an account and see if it tracked me ok.

recently i did ladbrokes as i wanted to play in there “games” section as i was playing hangman for fun and kept on winning – so i tried it for real and lost almost every go lol

ladbrokes def have rigged “play for fun” games.

anyways it registered as a registration ok, but NO INCOME !!!

i emailed them and they said that player has made any deposits yet :omg: :(

i have emailed back saying they did lose….. will await their answer

thank you for adding credibility to my post. It happens and more often than I fear most are aware.
