I would love to find out if I am under attack, but it is impossible to tell because I have a hyphen in the names of my main sites.
When I try searching, it appears to show it as a space instead.
June 4, 2006 at 1:46 pm #694396AnonymousInactiveYou are not under attack. You would show a huge number of links here:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=link:bfEHgb-Z9f4J:www.progressive-watch.com/
June 4, 2006 at 1:56 pm #694397AnonymousInactiveGoogle does not show all backlinks. According to google I have 2030 backlinks. That figure hasn’t moved for several months.
June 4, 2006 at 2:32 pm #694403AnonymousInactiveTrue, but the scraper links appear to show.
Well, I just went to gather proof using my own site, and low and behold, they are disappearing.
My backlink list is fairly clean, there are still some 15,000 under http://www.google.com/search?q=link+gamesandcasino.com/&hl=en&lr=&rls=GGLG,GGLG:2005-48,GGLG:en&start=90&sa=N , but this http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&rls=GGLG%2CGGLG%3A2005-48%2CGGLG%3Aen&q=gamesandcasino.com%2F&btnG=Search brought up some ridiculous number of listings yesterday and today it is clean.
Let’s hope this momentum keeps up!
Because I am now very irritated and if these sites that are trying to googlebowl us do not disappear, I am really going to get miffed at 888 for supporting this.
Guys, please put in the spam reports for yourself and the other 888ers.
Looks like google is responding to these.
I filed a complaint about a week ago.
June 4, 2006 at 2:40 pm #694404AnonymousInactiveIt also took a very very long time before google took any action at all on Traffic Power and the Traffic Power case is far different than this one, I don’t think the two situations can be compared.
Quote:I know that from speaking to Andrew Beveridge of eCOGRA last week, that John Anderson is not happy. John has also informed Andrew that 888 have addressed these issues. We certainly are seeing a lot less scraper sites promoting 888 in the recent weeks.Well from where I sit, I am still seeing a LOT of 888 scraper sites… If he is going to put a stop to all this it
would be nice if he made it public.Quote:These sites are not scraping our sites, indeed the source code on the sites that redirect to veryfastsearch appear to be scraping the results from google, which include our site’s description – this in turn providing us with a backlink.I can see no benefit and no backlink that will count in google on these pages. Make no mistake, this may look like a crude attack, but someone has spent money and time to generate this crap… considering this attack as a ‘crude’ and harmless attempt would be very misguided IMO.
Quote:Another thing we have to take on board is that a competent blackhat can throw up to 4000 new sites a day. Utilising many scripts and utilities readily available. Now why would you want to fight fire with fire? Everything gets burned that way…
Anyway, I think if your wanting to go down that path, a cracker with an army of zombies would be a way more effective tool…IMO.
June 4, 2006 at 2:51 pm #694405AnonymousInactiveNow why would you want to fight fire with fire? Everything gets burned that way…
I don’t and will never resort to such tactics. However people do and this is what is currently being used against us.
I am also not being misguided, just realistic. I would be very very very surprised if these sites have any affect against the established oaks they are targetting.
June 4, 2006 at 3:00 pm #694407AnonymousInactiveEven a single termite can bring down the biggest Oak, given enough time.
As I said eariler in this thread, given time even the ‘trusted’ sites that are targeted will start seeing an erosion of their ‘trust’ rating and their rankings and traffic.
BTW – Any small/new sites that have been hurt by this, please PM me, I’ll see what we can do to help.
June 4, 2006 at 3:08 pm #694408AnonymousInactiveWe need a list of sites under attack so we can go about cleaning this mess up properly.
June 4, 2006 at 3:15 pm #694409AnonymousInactiveI am turning this page in at the google spam report:
It contains lots of these spamming sites.
Please join me, we can and will clean this up.
PS.
And these sites are paid by 888 to do google bowling of affiliate sites.

June 4, 2006 at 3:18 pm #694410AnonymousInactiveA good place to start would be your 888 rouge page, it looks to me like everyone listed there is receiving the same treatment, so it might have been the beginning of the ‘list’.
Added… I have had two of my monkeys busy for the last few days tracing and reporting… But I sure feel like I am pissing up wind.
June 4, 2006 at 3:21 pm #694411AnonymousInactiveOther big authority sites are being targetted which are not on that list but have strong google serps, such as gonegambling.com and onlinecasinoreports.com
June 4, 2006 at 3:24 pm #694413AnonymousInactiveIt is still 888 paying for this.

Tens and hundreds of thousands of these everywhere!
888, stop it now!!!!

Presumably the bold is the affiliate tag.
June 4, 2006 at 3:39 pm #694415AnonymousInactiveWell maybe its time to Rogue PacificPoker as well…
