Now I am pretty savvy on the subject and try to keep up with it too, but I too keep getting the junk on my computer.
The only thing you can do is to run your anti spyware program regularly, and it is best to have a couple or three different ones because they don’t all pick up on the same stuff.
The problem is that there is a huge variety of spyware out there, both commercial and home made. It’s the home made ones that usually have no remedy.
My husband, who mostly just does email and a little research online, gets completely inundated with the stuff. He gets irritated with prompts popping up and clicks at them too fast to see if he is actually hitting the right button. Beware of that. Read every prompt, even if it looks like something familiar.
I also hear from people who have popup stoppers and also are infested with spyware. Their computers slow down to a trickle – it’s the constant processes running fighting each other in the background. It’s like a war is going on in the bachground. If you have a popup stopper, you need to run the anti spyware program even more often since you are totally unaware of what may be transpiring in the background.
